What is this integration?
Pin Vision is an external provider of GPS golf course data: hole coordinates, green boundaries and, above all, the daily pin position.
This integration connects with Pin Vision and imports that data into Golfmanager's Caddy module, which is the one that shows the digital caddie (distances, map and flags) to the players.
In short: Pin Vision provides the course data and Caddy shows it to the player.
The pin position is the point on the green where the hole is placed that day. Pin Vision measures and updates it; thanks to this integration, the player sees the day's pin in the app. Note: Pin Vision is course data only; it has nothing to do with ball machines or driving-range systems.

Which systems does it connect and in which direction does the data flow?
It works in one direction: from Pin Vision to Golfmanager (Caddy module).
Golfmanager queries Pin Vision for the course data and imports it into the Caddy module.
That data feeds the digital caddie in the player's app (distances, map, flags).
The pin position is updated automatically every day.

Prerequisites (before activating the integration)
Have the Caddy module running (Pin Vision feeds Caddy).
Have the Pin Vision module installed.
That your course is cataloged in Pin Vision (the provider measures and registers it).
The Pin Vision API key (configured once on the server; it does not need to be configured per club).
Administration permissions to link and synchronize.
How to set it up (step by step)
The Pin Vision key is configured globally on the server (by Golfmanager's technical team), so you do not have to enter credentials per club. What you do have to do is link each course with its equivalent in Pin Vision:
Log in to Golfmanager with an administrator user.
Go to Caddy > Courses and edit a course.
Select, in the "Pin Vision Club" dropdown, your club within the Pin Vision catalog.
Select, in the "Pin Vision Course" dropdown, the corresponding course.
Save the changes.
Click "Sync Pin Vision" for the first load (holes, coordinates and pins).
(Optional) Click "Sync images" to generate the hole and green diagrams.
⚠️ If you do not link the course with its Pin Vision club and course, the synchronization will not know where to bring the data from.
Explanation of each field
Below is a description of each field in the integration: where it is, what it means, its impact on the system, and a usage example (what happens when it is used and how the system behaves).
A) Course configuration (Caddy > Courses)
1. Pin Vision Club
Description: a dropdown that identifies your club within the Pin Vision catalog.
Impact on the system: it is mandatory to synchronize; it indicates which Pin Vision club to bring the data from.
Usage example: you choose your club in the dropdown on the course record.
What happens when it is used: the synchronization knows which Pin Vision club to connect to.
System behavior: if it is missing (or the course is missing), syncing shows "Pin Vision Club ID and Course ID must be configured" and nothing is brought in.
2. Pin Vision Course
Description: a dropdown that identifies the specific course within the chosen Pin Vision club.
Impact on the system: it is mandatory; together with the club, it determines exactly where to bring holes, coordinates and pins from.
Usage example: at a club with several courses, you choose the one that corresponds to this course.
What happens when it is used: the synchronization brings the data for that course.
System behavior: if it does not match the Pin Vision catalog, the data will not arrive or will arrive for another course; review the selection.
3. Last sync (read-only)
Description: the date and time of the last successful synchronization of the course.
Impact on the system: it is informational; it helps you know whether the data is up to date.
Usage example: you check it after syncing or to verify the daily sync.
What happens when it is used: it updates by itself each time a sync succeeds.
System behavior: it is not edited by hand; it only reflects the last sync.
B) Pin Vision API key (global, on the server)
Field name: Pin Vision API key.
Description: the credential that authorizes Golfmanager's connection with the Pin Vision service.
Impact on the system: essential to synchronize. It is configured by Golfmanager's technical team once on the server; it is not entered per club.
Usage example: your provider supplies the key and support leaves it configured at rollout.
What happens when it is used: all syncs (for any club) use it to authenticate.
System behavior: if it is not configured, syncs fail and the app cannot bring data. It is not something you manage from the club administration.
C) Data filled in automatically when syncing
This data is not filled in by hand: the synchronization brings it from Pin Vision and stores it on the holes and pin positions of the Caddy module.
Hole coordinates: tee, green center and green front/back. Impact: they allow calculating the distances to the green.
Par and handicap index: of the hole (men). Impact: they complete the hole information in the caddie.
Pin positions: coordinates, distance to the front, distance to the side and direction (left/right/center). Impact: they show the day's pin in the app.
Hole and green images: diagrams generated from the data. Impact: they are the caddie's visual map.
Usage example: after clicking "Sync Pin Vision", the holes have their coordinates and the day's pin.
What happens when it is used: the player's app shows that data (distances, map, pin).
System behavior: the synchronization updates the existing ones (it does not duplicate them); the pins refresh daily automatically.
How to use it: synchronization
"Sync Pin Vision" button
When you click Sync Pin Vision on a course, three operations run in order:
Holes: brings the hole number, par and handicap index (updates the existing ones, does not duplicate them).
Coordinates (GeoJSON): brings the tee, center and green front/back coordinates to calculate distances.
Pins (pin positions): brings the most recent pin position of each hole (coordinates, distance to the front, side and direction). If Pin Vision does not provide some value, it is calculated from the coordinates.
"Sync images" button
It generates the hole and green diagrams from the Pin Vision data (fairway, bunkers, water, path and green slopes), oriented with the green at the top and the tee at the bottom.
Automatic daily synchronization
Every day at 6:00 the pin positions of all courses that have Pin Vision configured are synchronized automatically. This way, the app always shows the day's pins without manual intervention.
What is NOT imported from Pin Vision
This data is managed manually in Caddy:
Elevation changes (slopes).
Professional tips (pro tips).
Distances by tee marker color (white, yellow, red).
Limitations to keep in mind
It depends on the Caddy module: Pin Vision only provides the data; the digital caddie belongs to Caddy.
The course must be cataloged in Pin Vision and linked correctly.
Some data is not imported (elevation, tips, distances by color).
The automatic sync is for pins; holes, coordinates and images are synced on demand.
It depends on the Pin Vision service: if it is unavailable, data cannot be brought at that moment.
Frequently asked questions
The synchronization brings nothing.
The course is not linked to Pin Vision. Edit the course in Caddy > Courses and select the "Pin Vision Club" and the "Pin Vision Course"; without them, "Pin Vision Club ID and Course ID must be configured" appears and there is nowhere to bring the data from.
The pins do not update by themselves.
The daily sync (at 6:00) only covers courses that have Pin Vision configured. Link the course with its Pin Vision club and course so it is included in the automatic update.
The pin is not shown on the green image.
The green's reference points are usually missing on the hole. Configure the green references on the hole (in Caddy) so the pin position can be placed over the image.
Elevation, tips or distances by tee color are missing.
That data is not provided by Pin Vision. Enter it manually in Caddy.
"Sync failed" or "Import failed" appears.
There was a temporary error connecting to Pin Vision. Check that the course is correctly linked and that the service is available, and try again. If it persists, contact support.
"No clubs available in Pin Vision" appears.
The Pin Vision catalog came back empty. This is usually because the API key is not configured on the server or because your course is not yet cataloged in Pin Vision. Contact support and your Pin Vision provider.
When importing a course it says it is "already imported".
A Caddy course linked to that Pin Vision club and course already exists. There is no need to import it again; sync the existing course.
How do I add a new course from Pin Vision?
From the module you can import a course by choosing its Pin Vision club and course; doing so creates the course in Caddy and runs an initial sync. If the course already exists in Caddy, you just link it and sync it.
Where does the API key come from and do I have to configure it?
The key is global and is configured by Golfmanager's technical team once on the server. It is not entered per club, nor do you manage it from the administration.
How often is the data updated?
The pins are updated automatically every day at 6:00. The holes, coordinates and images are synced on demand, when you click the sync buttons.
Does Pin Vision charge or dispense balls at the driving range?
No. Pin Vision is solely a provider of GPS course data (coordinates, pins, images) for the digital caddie. It has nothing to do with ball machines, vouchers or charges.
What does the player see with this integration?
The digital caddie in the app: the distances to the green, the hole and green map, and the day's pin.
Does the data travel in both directions?
No. It is one-way: from Pin Vision to Golfmanager (Caddy). Golfmanager does not send data to Pin Vision.
My course does not appear in Pin Vision. What do I do?
Your course must be cataloged in Pin Vision: the provider measures and registers it. Contact Pin Vision so they add your course to their catalog; afterwards you will be able to link and sync it.
Recommended best practices
Link each course correctly with its Pin Vision club and course.
Do a first full synchronization (holes, coordinates, pins and images) at rollout.
Let the daily synchronization keep the pins up to date.
Complete in Caddy the data Pin Vision does not provide (elevation, tips, distances by color).
