How do I know if my gently used car seat is eligible for resale?

  • If your gently used car seat has never been in a motor vehicle crash, is more than two years from being expired, has not been recalled, has not been modified in any way, was only cleaned with manufacturer approved cleaning products and passes the GoodBuy™ Car Seat Safety Check, it will be eligible for resale with GoodBuy Gear.

How much will I earn when I sell my gently used car seat?

  • Final sale price is dependent on the condition and amount of time the car seat is listed on site. Sellers can estimate their payout based on our payout scale.

How much does it cost to sell my gently used car seat with GoodBuy Gear?

  • If you live near a GoodBuy Garage, you can schedule a pickup for $10 or drop off your car seat free of charge. Due to our extensive 30-point GoodBuy™ Car Seat Safety Check process we charge an additional $10 Processing Fee for gently used car seats. If no car seat manual is provided, a $5 Manual Fee will be applied in addition. Good news: none of these fees are charged up front. All fees are deducted from your payout after your gear sells, so you don’t pay until you earn.

What’s the Car Seat Attestation Form?

  • The Car Seat Attestation Form is a legally binding contract stating that you’re the original owner of the gently used car seat, it has never been in a motor vehicle crash, you purchased the car seat brand new and it was only cleaned with manufacturer approved cleaning products.

Where can I find the serial number on my car seat and how do I know if it’s expired?

  • There will be a label on your car seat that will include all manufacturer information including the manufacturer's name, address, phone number, model and/or model number and serial number. This will also be helpful when checking any recall information or the expiration date (AKA ‘Do Not Use After’). If you do not see an expiration date on your label, you can find this information in the car seat manual.

I don’t have the original owners manual, what do I do?

  • If you do not have the original owners manual you can usually print it online from the car seat manufacturer’s website. If you do not include the owner’s manual with your car seat during your pickup or drop-off selling service there is a $5 Manual Fee that will be deducted from your payout. This fee covers the cost of securing and printing the manual on your behalf.

How do I know if the cleaning products I’ve used on my car seat are approved?

  • Every car seat manufacturer has their own guidelines for safe cleaning products. Please review the manufacturer’s car seat manual for more information on which cleaning products are safe for use.

What happens if GoodBuy Gear does not accept my gently used car seat for resale?

  • You will have 24 hours to alert us from the time of the donation notification email to pick up your gently used car seat within 7 days if it does not pass the GoodBuy™ Car Seat Safety Check. if you do not pick it up, we will recycle or donate it on your behalf.
