What is a Segment?

A Segment is a sub-list created from a master list coming from your CRM into Goodkind. Segments are created by filtering data within custom attributes. Segments are automatically updated as the data updates in CRM. Your data needs custom attributes to create and update segments.

What data do I need to create a Segment in Goodkind?

To send a video, Goodkind needs the First Name, Last Name, Email, Phone Number (optional but recommended)of the contact to come in from your CRM. All other fields are optional. The choice of fields depends on what field your team usually likes to work with when looking at a contact.

How to create a Segment?

To create a new segment, go to Audiences and Click on “New Audience”. You will see the option to create a segmented audience as below.

Next choose the list from your CRM that you want to segment the list from. We recommend starting with the broadest possible list so that you can use segments in Goodkind as far as possible without relying on CRM admins to create lists for you.

Next pick the attributes that you want to use to filter. We automatically identify date fields and allow you to segment data based on field values.

now in Beta: You can also segment based on Engagement attributes from your Goodkind campaigns. So, if you want to filter those who watched a video in the past you can now filter by those as well.

Assign the segment to an Inbox or choose "Default Video Messaging" inbox if you only have one. For Attributes with discrete values, we show the values coming in and you can select one or more, (they are treated as OR) to apply to the segment.

The system then creates an automatic name based on the values of the custom attributes, feel free to modify this to something that is more readable and understandable by all users.

💡Pro Tip: All the fields added here are added as the “AND” operator, if you add filter the same custom attributes by multiple values then they are combined together as “OR”.
