🧭 Getting Started with Goodword

Congrats β€” you're in. Here's how to get the most out of Goodword from day one.

Written by Emma Madgic

Step 1: Download the apps

Goodword is available on both mobile and desktop. Download both so you always have access to your network wherever you are.

  • iOS app β€” download on the App Store

  • Desktop app β€” download at goodword.com

Step 2: Connect your integrations

Goodword gets smarter the more context it has. To connect your accounts, click your profile picture in the bottom left corner of the app.

Available integrations include:

  • LinkedIn β€” syncs your connections and surfaces follow-up opportunities

  • Google Calendar β€” pulls in your meetings so Goodword can track interactions automatically

  • Google Contacts β€” imports your existing contact list

  • Outlook β€” syncs your calendar events and contacts

At minimum, we recommend connecting LinkedIn and your calendar to get started.

Step 3: Set your goals

During onboarding, you'll be asked what you're working toward β€” things like building community, finding mentorship, or growing your visibility. Your goals shape the recommendations and actions Goodword surfaces for you.

Step 4: Clear your weekly networking stack

Your networking stack is Goodword's weekly list of suggested actions β€” the most important things you can do right now to maintain and grow your relationships. Actions fall into three categories:

  • Follow-ups β€” reach out to new connections while they're fresh, or check in with someone you haven't spoken to in a while

  • Add Context β€” log notes from recent interactions so Goodword remembers the details for you

  • Organize β€” build out your groups, add people to your Champions list, or create a new group around a goal

Set aside 10–15 minutes each week to work through your stack. Think of it like inbox zero, but for your network.

Step 5: Explore your network

Once your integrations are connected, Goodword starts building a picture of your network. A few things worth exploring:

  • People β€” search your contacts by name, role, company, or location. Try something like "product managers in Austin" and see what comes up.

  • Recommendations β€” Goodword surfaces people you should reconnect with or reach out to, grouped by goals like networking, mentorship, and personal branding

  • Groups β€” organize your contacts (e.g., Champions, Investors, Alumni) so Goodword can help you stay on top of the right people

  • AI Chat β€” ask Goodword anything about your network. Use it to find contacts, build groups, draft messages, or figure out who to reconnect with next.

Step 6: Log your first debrief

After a meeting or call, take 2 minutes to log what happened in the app. Just write out your thoughts in plain language β€” Goodword will extract the people, notes, and follow-ups automatically. No specific format needed.

✨ Power user setup (optional)

Once you're comfortable with the basics, consider connecting Goodword to Claude Desktop via the Goodword MCP extension. It lets you access your contacts, notes, reminders, and more directly inside Claude β€” so you can do everything in one place without switching between apps.
