Deposit Settings

Goose lets you configure deposits your way; whether you want to always require a deposit, accept reservations with no deposit, or use seasonal settings for the best of both.

Written by Huong Pham

The Deposit Settings page shows your accepted payment options, standard policies, and seasonal policies in one place.

Standard Policies

Choose whether to always require a deposit for a service or let pet owners reserve online without one. If you require a deposit, you can also set automatic refunds for timely cancellations.

Seasonal Policies

Goose lets you set different deposit rules for specific dates. For example, require a deposit only during the week before Thanksgiving, even if daycare normally doesn’t need one — or raise your standard 50% deposit to 100% between Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

Below Standard Policies, you’ll find the Seasonal Policies section.

Click “Add New” to build a seasonal policy.

In this example, Labor Day Weekend requires a 100% deposit, fully refundable if canceled 7 days before the visit. Cancellations after that get a 50% refund.

Note: seasonal deposit settings only apply to future bookings. Goose won’t request a deposit for existing bookings that fall within a seasonal date range.

Overlapping Policies

Goose supports overlapping seasonal policies. Use the up and down arrows to set which policy takes priority — by default, the most recently added policy wins when dates overlap.

In this example, the facility requires a 50% deposit for boarding stays on summer weekends, but Labor Day Weekend takes priority and requires 100%:

Use the up and down arrows next to a policy name to rank Labor Day Weekend above Summer Weekends.
