What are app notifications?

We send you a notification on your phone when there is a new job offer for you. A notification is shown even when your phone is locked, or you are looking at another app.

You will only get job offers when you have marked yourself as "working". If you click on the job offer it will open the Gophr app and show you the job details. You have two minutes to click on the notification and respond to the offer before we show it to another courier.

What to do if notifications are delayed or not arriving

We use the notification tool in iOS and Android to send these notifications. Make sure your settings are correct so you get them instantly.

I am still missing notifications

Some phones delay notifications to save battery power. This can happen if:

  • You have not used the app recently

  • You are on low battery

  • You have other apps open that use a lot of power

This varies by phone and by manufacturer; however, we have seen more reports of this on Android devices, and in particular Android devices with custom battery saving settings.

If you are still not getting notifications, or they are being delayed:

  • Avoid force stopping the Gophr app

If you "force stop" the Gophr app you will kill the connection we use to send you the job offers.

  • Turn off adaptive battery (Android only)

In your battery settings, turn off the adaptive battery. This is used by your phone to save battery power but can delay notifications.

  • Turn off Data Saver (Android only)

Connections/ Data Usage/ Data Saver. This setting is used by your phone to save battery by cutting data connections it doesn't think are useful. If the Gophr app cannot connect with the Gophr system it will not be able to show a notification.

  • Turn off Adaptive notifications (Android only)

Settings/ Apps and Notifications/ Special App access. This is where your phone uses AI to rank and prioritise your notifications based on their importance. If it gets the ranking wrong you may not get the notifications instantly.

  • Do not disturb

If you have "do not disturb" on then you will not see any notifications. This can be configured to be active during certain hours.

  • Disable Sleeping Apps (Samsung only)

Settings/ Battery and Device Care/ Battery. This setting puts apps to sleep in the background and prevents them from using power, but will also stop them sending notifications.

  • Remove data usage restrictions for the Gophr app (Android only)

Long press on the app icon/ Info/ Mobile Data. This setting limits the amount of data a single app can use. You should enable "allow background data usage" and "allow data usage while data saver is on".

  • Clear App Cache

Long press on the app icon/ Info/ Storage/ clear cache. This will clear any previous data the app is holding that might be effecting the settings.
