Written by Chris

Maximize your customer communication like never before, with our new SMS 'On the Way' feature. This feature will allow you to provide your customers with an accurate arrival time along with your current location, in real-time!

Note: You must have the SMS package enabled to utilize this feature. Click here to learn more about activating SMS text messaging.

Here's how it works:

1. Log in to your mobile app and open a job from your calendar.

2. Tap the SMS icon in the lower left corner of your screen to open up the SMS window.

3. Select the 'On the Way' option.

4. You will have the option to send a link to your location and/or the exact arrival time, and edit your On the Way template.

Note: This will provide an ETA based off your location in relation to your customer's service location.

5. When you are ready to send, click Paste to paste your template into the SMS field, then click Send.

You can also make last minute changes before sending, add emojis, and add attachments.

---

6. If you choose to include a link to your location, your customer can select the link in their SMS message and view your location on a map.

---

And that's all there is to it! Soon, dropping the ball on customer communication will be a thing of the past!

SMS Per Credit Charge Notice:

SMS credits are based on message segments.

  • Plain text uses up to 160 characters per credit.

  • Emojis, special characters, and personalized fields may reduce the character limit and increase credits used.

  • For example, using a single emoji reduces the limit to 70 characters per credit.

When an SMS contains Emojis, Accented characters, or Special characters, the system switches to Unicode encoding. This drastically reduces the character limit per segment, resulting in higher credit charges.

    Triggers & Examples:

  • Emojis: 😀, 🚀, 🔥 (Note: Complex emojis like the family icon 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 can use up to 8 Unicode characters alone).

  • Accented Characters: Vietnamese tones or letters not in the standard Latin alphabet (e.g., á, , , , , đ).

  • Special Characters / Smart Punctuation (often from Copy-Paste): Smart quotes (" " instead of ", or instead of '), long dashes (), and ellipses ().

Character Limit & Segment Rules:

  • Plain Text (GSM-7): The 1st segment holds up to 160 characters. From the 2nd segment onwards, it drops to 153 characters/segment. (Example: 161 plain characters = 2 segments).

  • Unicode Text (With Emojis/Accents/Special Chars): The 1st segment holds up to 70 characters. From the 2nd segment onwards, it drops to 67 characters/segment. (Example: 71 characters containing a single emoji = 2 segments).
