One of the most common ways to operate Grayscale is through our Chrome extension. It allows the user to work directly out of their ATS sending texts, setting up automations, and more.

Typically when you see a blank screen after opening the chrome extension there are a couple of easy fixes as outlined below.

Clear Cookies and Cache

Let's try clearing your cookies and cache in your browser.

  1. Click the menu button top right in the browser,

  2. Then click Clear browsing data.

    1. macOS Google Chrome users can click Preferences > Clear browsing data.

    2. Change the time range to All time.

  3. Optional: Browsing history. Leaving Browsing history checked will delete all browsing history

  4. Check Cookies and other site data.

  5. Check Cached images and files (In older versions, check Empty the cache).

  6. Choose Clear data. Note: This may take a few minutes to process depending on when this was last cleared in your browser. Please wait for the files to delete before continuing.

After you've completed these steps, close out of chrome completely and restart the browser. Open your ATS again and pull up the Grayscale chrome extension.

This should fix the issue in most cases!

Allow Third Party Cookies

Still not working? Let’s make sure in your chrome settings that you’re allowing Third party cookies.

  1. Click on the three vertical dots on the top right-hand side of Chrome

  2. Scroll to the bottom and click Settings

  3. You’ll then want to go into Privacy and security settings and click Tracking Protection on the right side of the screen

  4. Click the circle next to Allow third-party cookies

If you don't see an option to Allow third-party cookies

Note: Chrome is ending support for third-party cookies in Q3 of 2024, and has begun rolling this change out to some of its users already. If you do not see the "Allow third-party cookies" option, then you are one of those they've rolled this change out to.

We are working on a solution for this, but in the meantime you can follow the steps below to temporarily enable third-party cookies. This will enable cookies for 90 days, after which you'll need to repeat this process if we haven't yet implemented our own solution.

  1. Open a tab and go to your applicant tracking system (Greenhouse, Lever, SAP, etc...)

  2. Click the icon on the left edge of the address bar

  3. Click on Tracking Protection

  4. Turn on the Third-party cookies toggle

  5. After 90 days this will automatically turn back off. We hope to have a solution by then, but if you aren't able to sign into the Chrome extension, try repeating these steps to allow third-party cookies for another 90 days

Whitelist Grayscale's Domains

If the above doesn't do the trick, your firewall may be blocking our chrome extension.

To fix this, you'll need to loop in your IT department to whitelist Grayscale's domains. The three domains you should send to them are:

  • *.gograyscale.com

  • grayscaleapp.com

  • grayscale-1719f010575f.intercom-mail.com

Once IT whitelists these domains, test the chrome extension again.
