Accessing the Notifications Section

  • Open the GreenCast Connect app.

  • Go to Settings (tap the gear icon ⚙️).

  • Select “Notifications” to see a list of all notification types.

From here, you can view all available notification types and control how and when they are delivered.

Default Notification Settings (New Users)

To reduce noise and improve relevance, new GCX users now start with balanced default settings:

  • Weather alerts: Enabled

  • Spiio™ Soil Moisture alerts: Set to Very Low

  • GDD Tracker alerts: Enabled

  • Dollar Spot alerts: Enabled for organizations managing turf or lawns

These defaults are designed to highlight critical risks while avoiding unnecessary alerts.

What’s New: Improved Push Notifications

Recent updates introduce several improvements to make notifications easier to manage and more useful:

Global Notifications Toggle

  • A single on/off switch allows you to enable or disable all push notifications at once.

  • This is useful when you need a temporary pause without changing individual settings.

Custom Work Schedule

  • You can now define working hours so notifications are only sent when they’re relevant.

  • Default schedule:

    • 5:00 AM – 9:00 PM

    • Based on your organization’s time zone

  • Notifications outside these hours are automatically suppressed.

More Informative Notification Messages

  • Push notifications now include the actual measured value, not just a warning that a threshold was reached.

  • This makes it easier to understand what changed at a glance (for example, exact soil moisture or temperature values).

Managing Notifications

You can customize which notifications you receive by toggling them on or off based on your personal preferences:

  1. Go to Settings (tap the gear icon ⚙️).

  2. Select “Notifications” to see a list of all notification types.

  3. Toggle each notification on or off to enable or disable it according to your needs.

    • Toggle On (Green): You will receive notifications for that category.

    • Toggle Off (Gray): Notifications for that category will be disabled.

Helpful Tips

  • If notifications feel too frequent, start by adjusting threshold levels or narrowing alerts to only extreme conditions.

  • Use the work schedule to prevent overnight or off-hour interruptions.

  • Keep weather and pest alerts enabled during peak risk periods, and reduce others during low-activity seasons.
