Using the Spiio™ Soil Sensor Installation Tool
The Spiio™ Soil Sensor Installation Tool is designed to help you create the correct space in the soil for accurate sensor placement. It ensures proper soil contact around the sensor, which is critical for reliable data collection.
What the Installation Tool Does
After preparing your hole (using a cup cutter, auger, or similar tool), the installation tool is used to:
Shape the soil to match the size and orientation of the Spiio sensor
Eliminate air gaps around the sensor
Ensure proper horizontal placement for accurate readings

How to Use the Installation Tool
Insert the Tool into the Hole
Place the installation tool into the prepared hole in the ground.Position Horizontally
Insert the tool horizontally, matching the way the sensor will be installed.Align the Tool Correctly
Ensure the black line on the tool is aligned vertically (up and down).
This ensures the correct orientation for the sensor.Shape the Soil
Push the tool firmly into the soil to create a properly sized and shaped cavity for the sensor.Remove the Tool
Carefully pull the tool out, leaving behind a clean, sensor-sized space in the soil.
After Using the Tool
Insert the Spiio soil sensor into the shaped cavity
Ensure the sensor is placed horizontally
Confirm the white arrow direction and orientation match installation guidance
Push firmly to ensure full soil contact
Important: Keep QR Code Visible
Ensure the QR code label is not covered during installation. You’ll need to scan it when adding the sensor in the GreenCast Connect app.
