This tutorial details how to publish your GHG Assessment on the ADEME website.
It is important to publish your GHG assessment for several reasons:
Transparency: It demonstrates the company’s commitment to environmental transparency.
Regulatory compliance: For certain companies, it is a legal requirement to publish their carbon footprint every 3 or 4 years.
Credibility: Publishing on an official platform like ADEME enhances the credibility of the data presented.
Comparison: It allows stakeholders to compare the company’s performance with that of other players in the industry.
Motivation: Regular publication encourages the company to show progress in reducing its carbon footprint
Additionally, publishing on ADEME’s website can help maintain or improve your status in certifications such as EcoVadis
To get started, head to the carbon report site for ADEME and create a Visitor account via the button sign up.
Then go to the Publish my report page (Online reports > Publish > Publish my report), and click on "Create a new report".
You will then be able to find all the reports that you have saved with your account from this step.
Page 1: Identity form
An initial form appears with all the information related to your entity and to the GHG assessment. The "SIREN" step is mandatory for all entities.
Some important points on data information:
Be careful with the copy/paste function of the SIREN which does not systematically integrate the 9 digits which compose it.
At the end of each entry page, it is necessary to save your changes.
For the Consolidation mode, please enter operational.
It is possible for a company/association to add as many "SIRENs" as desired in the case of consolidated balances for a group. Keep in mind: a company can choose to declare the same consolidated GHG balance sheet for all the companies in the group with the same NAF level 2 code (i.e. with the same first 2 digits of their NAF codes).
Page 2 : Declaration table
Next, you arrive at the tab corresponding to the declaration table. Here, you can choose to hide or display the table for the review of categories 3 to 6.
The emissions are divided into two tables:
Direct emissions (Category 1)
Indirect emissions (Categories 2 to 6)
You can also specify whether a baseline year has been calculated (in which case, you will need to enter the corresponding data for that baseline year) and whether avoided emissions have been calculated (a separate table will need to be completed for this).
Display the action plan / transition plan window
By clicking on the Modify button, you can access a text entry window. Here you can enter your reduction objectives and your action plan. To date, it is not possible to insert tables or images, only text entry (copy/paste is accepted).
Describe your action plan / transition plan
Here you can describe these reduction objectives and your action plan in the boxes dedicated to the different scopes (scopes 1, 2 and 3).
Presentation of the company and sustainable development policy
As in the previous steps, by clicking on the Modify button, you will be taken to a text entry window where you can fill in the corresponding data.
Describe your methodology
In order to complete your declaration, you have the option to describe the methodological elements retained for all the stages of the report:
The different scopes
The uncertainties
What was excluded
The sources used
The recalculation
Indicate here the SIREN numbers associated with your balance sheet
Example:
Emissions were calculated by combining physical and monetary approaches. When physical data were available, the physical approach was used. Otherwise, the monetary approach was used. The emission factors used come mainly from ADEME's carbon base, and some are from studies conducted by Greenly.
The contact details of the person in charge of the assessment
This step is mandatory, but the information in this section will only be visible to the site administrators and the DREALs in charge of reviewing your file (your DREAL may contact you if additional information on your regulatory assessment is required).
This information will not be communicated to third parties.
Report Evaluation
Although not mandatory, this step allows ADEME to fulfill its role of evaluating the regulatory system that it must submit to the Ministry of the Environment.
Visibility
Here you can choose to fill in two options (filled in by default):
Do you wish for your email to be distributed to an investor mailing list?
Do you want your contact information (name and email only) to be visible on your GHG report
Publish the report
Last step: check the box verifying the data entered and click on the Publish box.
