Introduction – What are the benefits of this module?
The New Overview Page module helps you present individual content in a structured and clear way. It ensures a modern, user-friendly experience – fully integrated into your Guestnet platform.
Feature Overview
The following features are available in the Main Menu - New Overview Page module:
Empty main box with freely creatable sub-boxes
Flexible design with text, image, external link or contact information
Optional introductory text and image
Categorization of content (relevant for the Daily News)
Upload and display of PDF files
External linking with optional back button functionality
Internal linking with which you can create a targeted link to internal content within your Guestnet.
How to set up the New Overview Page module
Open the backend via the gear icon > Main Menu
Click on “+ New Overview Page”
You can first define the title of the main box, enter the text content, and optionally upload an image.
Click Save to create the page
Now create the categories (in all languages, important for Daily News)
First, it’s important to create one or more categories.
These are not visible in the guest view and are only important if you also use the Daily News in Guestnet.
Even if you only create one category, you can name it freely.Once you have created one or more categories (always filled in all languages), you can create the sub-boxes.
To create them, click on “+ New Entry”.
Each new entry corresponds to a new sub-box.
In a sub-box, the following functions are available to you:
Title, text and image
You can first define the title of the box, enter the text content, or upload an image.
This image is the main image of this sub-box.
Internal link
In addition to the text and image area, there is a field for an internal link.
Here you can refer specifically to internal content from Guestnet – for example, to desired modules in the archive or to specific categories.
If categorization is intended, please make sure to enter the corresponding ID correctly.
When linking to certain modules (Gastronomy, Sports & Activities, In the surroundings, Events), it is possible to make further settings.
You can link to a specific category, for example Shops. Then you have the option to link within this category to a further subcategory, for example only sporting goods.
Under the “Area” filter, you can specifically display only a desired region of the module.
The selection “Only open” causes only gastronomic businesses, shops, etc. that are currently open to be displayed.
Please note: For this function to work correctly, sufficient data maintenance of the opening hours is required.
The “Highlights only” option ensures that only the entries you’ve marked as highlights are displayed.
External link
You also have the option to add an external link in the corresponding field.
Once this field is filled in, the guest will be taken directly to the linked website when clicking the box.
If an error message appears in the guest view, we recommend unchecking the back button function, as the desired website probably does not support direct linking.
⚠️ If this field is filled in with a link, all other content such as image and text content will not be visible to the guest,
as the box will exclusively redirect to the linked website.
Contact details an additional buttons
As an alternative to the “External Link” field, you can also fill out the “Contact” section on the right side.
From these completed fields, buttons are generated so guests can perform the following actions:
Email field: When the guest clicks on it, the default mail app on their phone opens to compose an email.
Phone field: When the guest clicks on it, they directly call the entered phone number.
Website and Button Text: This creates a button with the title “Button Text”, and clicking it takes the guest to the website entered in the “Website” field.
This combination works well with text content and image.
PDF File(s)
It is also possible to upload PDF files.
It is also possible to upload multiple PDF files within the same overview page,
each of which can be titled individually:
FAQ about the module
Why should I deactivate the back button for linked content?
Why should I deactivate the back button for linked content?
If you insert an external in a box, we recommend deactivating the back button function, because some linked websites do not support direct return navigation.
This can result in error messages being displayed in the guest view or the guest not being able to return to the Guestnet platform as expected.
Does the guest need to be logged in to see the overview page?
Does the guest need to be logged in to see the overview page?
No, the overview pages are publicly accessible unless explicitly configured otherwise. The feature to make content available only to registered guests is available exclusively to customers with the Guest Login module.
