Set approvers and approve ICS forms
Form approval puts a sign-off step on the ICS forms that need one. Flag the form, name the approver, and every uploaded version stays amber until the approver signs off and turns it green. The colour is the status, visible to the whole Virtual Emergency Operations Centre (VEOC) session.
Before you start
Requires an IAP licence. Approving is restricted to the designated approver for that form. See Download, upload, and track ICS forms for the basic forms workflow.
Set a form to require approval
Open ICS Forms from the left-hand menu.
Check the box next to the form that requires approval.
On the Approver tab, click the dropdown and select the individual or role responsible for approving the form.
Once a form requiring approval is uploaded, its highlight changes colour so approvers can spot pending work at a glance.
When someone creates a form that requires approval, the system sends an automatic direct message to the assigned approver in the Forum. No chasing required.
If a form requires approval but no user is assigned to the approver position, the creator sees a message and can continue creating the form. Assign the position to close the gap: Assign and edit positions.
Approve a form
Open ICS Forms from the left-hand menu.
Find the form requiring approval and click the half-circle arrow icon.
Check the Approved checkbox to confirm your approval.
Approving the most recent version turns the form's highlight from amber to green. Done means green.

Track approvals across the session
Put forms on the Status Board to show their approval state to everyone: Track form status on the Status Board.
