Starting with a new app is exciting, but we know you don't want to lose your valuable tracking history from other apps or spreadsheets. This guide will show you the best methods to import your past data into Habitify to get a complete picture of your journey.

While Habitify doesn't have a direct file import feature (like uploading a CSV file), you can import your historical data using our powerful integrations. There are two main methods depending on the type of data you have.

Import Past Data from Apple Health, Fitbit, and Strava via Direct Integrations

If your past data is related to fitness and is stored in Apple Health, Fitbit, or Strava, this is the easiest and most automatic way to import your history.

How it works: When you connect one of these services to a habit in Habitify for the first time, the app will automatically perform a historical sync. It will look back in time and import your past activities into your habit's log.

Method 2: Import Custom Data from a Spreadsheet via Zapier

If your previous tracking data is in a spreadsheet (perhaps exported from another app or kept manually), you can use a service called Zapier to import it.

This method is more advanced but is perfect for backfilling a complete history for any habit.

How it works: This method uses an automation (a "Zap") that watches for new rows in a Google Sheet and creates a corresponding log entry in Habitify. To import your old data, you will copy-paste it into the Google Sheet to trigger the process.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Prepare Your Data: First, you'll need to format your old data to fit our Google Sheets template. Each sheet records the progress log of one habit. This means organizing your history so that each row represents one completion (including the specific date, time, and any numerical value).

  2. Set Up Your Habit: Create the corresponding habit in Habitify that you want to import the data into.

  3. Use Our Zapier Template: We have a pre-made Zapier template to guide you. Follow the link and the steps to connect your Google Sheet and your Habitify account.

  4. Run the Import: Once the Zap is active, you can copy-paste your entire historical data into the Google Sheet. Zapier will then read each row and import it as a dated log in Habitify, successfully backfilling your progress.

You can implement the same integration via Zapier with other data table services like Airtable, Online Microsoft Excel, Zoho Sheet, and so on.
