This guide will show you how to use the Notes feature on the Habitify website and desktop apps.

The Notes feature in Habitify is your personal diary for each habit. It goes beyond a simple checkmark, allowing you to record your thoughts, feelings, and the context behind your progress. Understanding the "why" behind your actions is a powerful step in building lasting habits.

How to Access the Notes Feature

You can access the notes for any habit directly from its detailed progress view.

  1. Open the Habitify app on your computer.

  2. Click on any habit from your list (in Grid View) or double-click it (in List View) to open its Progress View.

  3. In the top right corner of the Progress View, you will see a toggle or an icon. Click this button to slide open the Notes panel on the right side of the screen.

Creating Your Daily Note

The Notes feature is designed to help you capture your immediate, in-the-moment reflections about your habits. Therefore, you can only log a note for the current day.

In each daily note, you can add multiple elements to get a full picture of your experience:

  • โœ๏ธ Text: Click into the text field to write down your thoughts, challenges, successes, or anything else that's on your mind.

  • ๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ Pictures: Click the "Add Image" button to upload a photo that represents your progress, like a picture of your healthy meal, a post-workout selfie, or a page from the book you're reading.

  • ๐Ÿ˜Š Mood Log: Select one of the mood icons to quickly log how you were feeling when you performed your habit.

Editing or Deleting an Existing Note

If you need to make a change to a note you've already written for the day, you can easily manage it.

  1. Find the note you wish to change within the Notes panel.

  2. Click on the 3-dot menu (...) located in the top right corner of that specific note entry.

  3. A dropdown menu will appear with the following options:

    • Edit: To change the text you've written.

    • Add Image: To add or change the picture in your note.

    • Delete: To permanently remove the note for that day.

Especially: Quickly View Notes from the Grid

You can also see your notes at a glance without leaving the main Journal screen.

  • Note Indicator: Any day that has a note will be marked with a small triangle in the top-right corner of its cell in the Grid View.

  • (upcoming) Hover to Preview: Simply hover your mouse over any cell with a triangle indicator. A pop-up will appear, showing you all the notes (text, images, and mood) you logged for that habit on that day.
