Setting a clear goal is a fundamental step in building a new habit. In Habitify, a Goal is the target you want to achieve within a specific period (a day, a week, or a month). It helps you stay focused and motivated, and it gives you clear parameters so you know exactly when you have successfully completed your habit for that period.

When you create or edit a habit, simply tap on the "Goal" section to configure it.

Understanding Goal Units

When you set a goal, you configure

  • A minimal value to achieve so your habit can be considered as completed

  • An unit to measure your achievement

  • The period to complete the minimal value

Regarding the unit, there are:

  • Pre-defined Units: For your convenience, Habitify suggests a list of suitable units for each pre-built habit template. For example, a "Drink Water" habit will suggest units "litres," "ml," "US fl oz", or "cup".

  • Custom Units: If you don't see the unit you need, you can create your own.

    1. Start by creating a "Create Custom Habit".

    2. In the Goal settings, select the base unit "times".

    3. An option to "Unit Name" will appear. Here, you can type any label you want (e.g., "bottles," "chapters," "clients").

Important Notes on Changing Units

Please read the following carefully before saving your habit, as some settings cannot be changed later.

1. You Cannot Change the Unit Type After Saving

To ensure your historical data and charts remain consistent, you cannot change the fundamental type of a unit after a habit has been created.

  • βœ… You CAN change from tracking in "minutes" to tracking in "hours," because they are both duration units.

  • ❌ You CANNOT change from tracking in "minutes" to tracking in "km," because one is a duration unit and the other is a length unit.

If you need to change the unit type, you will have to create a new habit and delete the old one.

2. Changing a Custom Unit Label Affects Past Data

If you create a custom unit and decide to edit the label later, please be aware that the new label will be applied to all of your past data for that habit.

  • Example: If you tracked "3 bottles" of water yesterday and today you change the custom label from "bottles" to "glasses," your log from yesterday will now read "3 glasses."

Setting your goal correctly from the start is the best way to ensure your tracking is accurate and meaningful.
