Troubleshooting: How to Turn Off the Sound of Alarms Notification?

Many users have asked if it's possible to have this powerful visual alert without the accompanying sound.

Based on how Apple has designed AlarmKit for critical alerts, there is currently no way to disable the sound associated with an Alarming Reminder, either within Habitify or through your iPhone's system settings.

Why Can't the Sound Be Turned Off?

The fundamental purpose of AlarmKit is to deliver time-sensitive, critical notifications that must be seen and heard. These alarms are specifically designed by Apple to:

  1. Bypass Silent Mode: Unlike regular notifications, AlarmKit alerts are intended to play a sound even when your phone's silent switch is on.

  2. Override Do Not Disturb/Focus Modes: They are meant to break through focus modes to ensure you receive the alert.

Because sound is considered an integral part of ensuring these critical alerts are effective, Apple's framework provides very limited (or no) options for developers or users to make them completely silent. Disabling "Sounds" in your iPhone's notification settings for Habitify will not silence these specific AlarmKit alerts.

While this is currently a limitation imposed by Apple's AlarmKit framework, we have noted the strong desire for a silent alarm option and will continue to explore possibilities as Apple evolves its operating system.

In the meantime, if the sound is disruptive, the only option is to not use the "Set as Alarm" feature for that reminder and rely on standard notifications instead (which can be silenced via your iPhone's notification settings or the silent switch).
