Widget Compatibility Guide: Which Widget Works With Which Habit?

Written by Habitify
Updated this week

Habitify allows you to build a highly customized home screen using widgets. However, because we offer different types of habits—building good routines, quitting bad ones, or simply limiting bad behaviors—not every widget works with every habit.

This guide will help you understand exactly which widgets to choose based on the type of habit you want to track.

Habit Types in Habitify

Before setting up your widgets, it is helpful to remember the three main types of habits you can create in Habitify:

  1. Good Habits: Behaviors you want to build (with goals set per day, week, month, or year).

  2. Bad Habits (To Quit): Behaviors you want to stop entirely.

  3. Bad Habits (To Limit): Behaviors you want to reduce (with limits set per day, week, month, or year).

Detailed Widget Breakdown

If you are trying to add a habit to a widget but it isn't showing up, check the rules below to ensure your habit type matches the widget's purpose.

Widgets for Good Habits

  • Today's Habits: This widget displays your daily to-do list. It strictly shows Good Habits scheduled for the current day.

  • Tap to Track: Designed for speed, this widget allows you to quickly complete your habit or mark it as skipped/failed right from your home screen. It only supports Good Habits.

  • Progress Chains: This widget visualizes your current streaks. It is available for Good Habits only (regardless of whether the goal is daily, weekly, or monthly).

  • Consistency Grid: This displays a github-style calendar grid of your check-ins. Shows a calendar grid highlighting the days you successfully completed your daily good habit, or the day you have progress on good habits with weekly, monthly or yearly goal.

  • Goal Progress: This widget helps you visualize your pacing for longer-term routines. It is specifically designed for Good Habits with Weekly or Monthly goals (it does not support daily or yearly goals).

Widgets for Bad Habits

  • Days Since: This acts as a sobriety counter, tracking how long you have abstained from a behavior. It is exclusively for Bad Habits with a goal to Quit.

  • Limit Tracker: This widget helps you keep an eye on behaviors you are trying to cut back on without stopping entirely. It only supports Bad Habits with a goal to Limit, and specifically requires those limits to be Weekly or Monthly (it does not support daily or yearly limits).
