What do I do if my card is lost, stolen, or expires?

Freezing or burning a lost or stolen HCB card, reissuing one, and when you actually need to contact HCB.

šŸ’” If you might still find the card, freeze it. If it's stolen or gone for good, burn it. Either way, feel free to issue yourself a new card right away. If you spot a charge you didn't make, dispute it immediately.

If you might still find it

Freeze the card so it can't be used while you look for it. On the Cards tab, open the card and freeze it. If you find it, you can unfreeze it later; if you don't, burn it.

If it's stolen or gone for good

Burn the card to cancel it permanently so it can never be used again. On the Cards tab, open the card and click Burn.

Issue yourself a new card

In either case, go ahead and issue yourself a new card from the Cards tab.

What happens to refunds?

If a refund comes in for a card you've already frozen or burned, the money simply goes back to your organization's balance, so it's never lost.

Expired cards

HCB cards don't renew automatically. When one expires, reissue yourself a new one from the Cards tab. If it was a physical card, cut up and throw away the old one.

Spotted a charge you didn't make?

If you see a charge you don't recognize, dispute it. You can start a dispute from the transaction itself; see how to dispute a transaction.
