Widget Component

Integrate events or surveys into an interactive full-width component with a background visual.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

The Widget Component combines two functions within a single component:

  • Event announcements

  • Surveys

The component is always displayed in Full Width, with the visual spanning the entire width of the page.

The actual event or survey cards are narrower and positioned on top of the background. They can be displayed individually or side by side.

Basic Structure

After adding the component, you can:

  • show or hide a headline

  • show or hide a subheadline

  • choose the text alignment (left or centered)

  • define a visual (image, video from the Media Archive, or web video)

The visual supports the usual options:

  • cropping and focus (for images)

  • autoplay, controls, loop, poster image (for videos)

  • dark overlay or dark gradient to improve readability

A color scheme can be applied to the entire component.

Event Widget

Within the Widget Component, an event item can be created. Multiple events are not displayed simultaneously but can be navigated using arrows within the event card. It is visually indicated when multiple events are available.

Event Structure

Each event can include:

  • headline

  • location

  • description (rich text editor, optionally hideable)

  • optional visual

  • event type

  • event start date and registration end date

  • button with link

Event Type

Currently, four predefined types are available:

  • Livestream

  • Webinar

  • Workshop

  • Training

These types are not editable and only determine the corresponding icon.

Countdown

The countdown can be set to reference either:

  • the event start

  • or the registration end

The date is calculated automatically once a corresponding date is entered. The registration end date and button can each be shown or hidden.

Survey Widget

Alternatively or additionally, a survey card can be created.

Only one survey card is displayed at a time. Additional surveys can be navigated using arrows.

Survey Structure

Each survey consists of:

  • a headline (question)

  • any number of answer options

Answer options can be added using a plus icon.
There is no fixed limit on the number of responses.

The height of the card automatically adjusts based on the number of answers.

Users can:

  • select exactly one answer

  • not change their vote afterward

  • see the result only after voting

Results are displayed as bars and become visible to all users once a vote has been submitted. However, there is no extended reporting or export function.

Important Usage Note

The Widget Component is primarily intended for internal pages with logged-in users. While it can technically be used publicly, it provides limited functional value in that context.

For more advanced surveys with evaluation or reporting features, integrating an external tool (e.g., via iFrame) is recommended.

Tips & Tricks

  • Use calm background visuals, as widgets are displayed on top of them.

  • Keep event headlines concise and button labels clear.

  • Keep surveys compact to avoid excessive card height.

  • Use the widget strategically to encourage internal interaction and engagement.
