What happens if a patient starts the questionnaire, but does not complete it entirely?
HealthNote has a feature that can be enabled called Manual Sync that allows the partial information to be synced into Athena. Once you sync the information, the questionnaire will be updated to 'complete' status and the patient will no longer be able to make any updates.
Things to note as you use the Manual Sync button:
This will never upload forms because the signature question was not asked.
If the patient has not filled out the Medications, Allergies, or Family History section, the note will show no changes, which may not be accurate if there are updates and they were just not filled out.
You should sync the appointment before the provider completes documentation, so that there is no risk of information being overwritten.
If you would like to enable the Manual Sync button, please reach out to HealthNote support. Once enabled, you can follow the steps below.
Open the Health Note dashboard.
Click on the appointment containing the partially-completed questionnaire (it will have a status showing "inprogress").
Click on the following icon to “Sync to EMR”
You will be prompted with a warning message indicating that the patient will not be able to complete the questionnaire once synced. Please confirm that the correct questionnaire has been selected, then click “Confirm”.
That’s it! All information filled out by the patient will now be in the correct location within the EMR. The questionnaire status will change from “inprogress” to “completed”, and “EMR synced” in the dashboard
Current Limitations:
When the medication question is not answered in questionnaire and link is manually synced, “No medications reported” is checked in Athena. We are changing this behavior so that when the medication question is not answered in the questionnaire and it is manually synced, we will leave the checkbox unchecked (for No medications reported) and only check the box (for No medications reported) if the patient selects ‘No’ to the ‘Are you taking any medications’ question.
When the allergy question is not answered in questionnaire and link is manually synced, “NKDA” is checked. We are changing this behavior so that when the allergy question is not answered in the questionnaire and it is manually synced, we will leave the checkbox unchecked (for NKDA, No Known Drug Allergies) and will only check the box (for NKDA, No Known Drug Allergies) if the patient selects ‘No’ to the ‘Do you have any medication allergies’ question.
