Your Writing Number is a unique number that some carriers assign when they grant you appointments. Your Writing Number may also be referred to as a Tax ID, TIN, SAN, Agent ID, or something else depending on the carrier.

Some carriers don't use a Writing Number, and only rely on your NPN. For these, just enter your NPN when asked for your Writing Number.

Where you should go to locate your Writing Number will vary by carrier – but it's usually best to check your carrier's broker portal, or call the carrier's broker support line. See below for details per carrier.
