This article explains what happens after you share a conversation using the Hearsay Extractor. Once a thread is shared, it's securely sent to your legal team’s portal using the code they provided (unless you're an individual with your own account—see the last section below). You won’t be able to review or open the conversation inside the app after it’s been uploaded.
What happens after you share a thread
When you select and share a conversation, the messages are uploaded directly to your legal team’s secure portal. They are the only ones who can view or access the shared messages.
Can I highlight messages for my lawyer?
No, the Hearsay Extractor app doesn’t include a way to highlight or annotate specific messages before sharing.
My legal team wants me to review or tag messages. Can I do that?
In some cases, yes. Depending on the firm’s setup, your legal team may:
Export a copy of the shared messages for you to review and mark up
Add you to their account as a client user, which gives you access to view shared threads and add tags or comments
If you're not sure what applies to your case, check with your legal team.
Are you an individual with your own account?
If you created your own Hearsay account without going through a law firm, your shared messages are only accessible to you. You can log in at usehearsay.com/login to view or export your messages at any time.
