To begin building your family tree in the HeirShares Tree Builder, we ask a big question, "who is the original owner of the property?".

The person or persons we are referring to is the first family member(s) to own the family property for which you are tracing ownership. There will be a deed that describes the ownership of the property being transferred to the family member(s).

Using the image below as an example, if this deed were the deed in which the property was transferred to my (fictional) family, the original owner would be America Gragg who is listed as the grantee in the deed.
