Information about the family property is very important for the HeirShares Tree Builder to do its work.

At a minimum, you should know the county and state the property is in, but it's also helpful to know the street address and value.* If you know the parcel identification number, even better!

Example.

The image below shows a property record from a county geographic information system (GIS) department, with important sections highlighted to illustrate the type of information to look for. Note that with family owned real estate, property address is often not the address listed under "owner". Rural land also often does not have a traditional street address.

*Most often real estate records are managed by a county or parish entity, but it could also be a city entity.
