Atlas works best with Shopify’s Basic plan or higher. While you can install the app on any Shopify plan, some features like theme imports and advanced customization are not supported on the Starter plan.
If you're experiencing issues publishing your store despite having an active Atlas Basic plan, the issue may stem from Shopify plan-level restrictions, which apply even if features like app blocks are enabled.
Recommended plan:
Basic Shopify (or any plan above it)
Not supported:
Shopify Starter Plan – this plan doesn’t allow custom themes, app blocks, or full theme editing, which are required for Atlas to work properly.
Additionally, Starter plan users cannot publish stores through Shopify, which imposes further restrictions at the publishing level.
Why this matters:
Atlas uses your Shopify theme to generate product pages and full storefronts using app blocks and custom sections. If your Shopify plan doesn’t support those features, generation will get stuck or display errors.
Furthermore, if your store is marked as "Generated" in Atlas, it means the setup is incomplete and will not yet appear in Shopify. You need to transition the status to "Imported" for full visibility and functionality.
How to check your plan:
Go to your Shopify admin
Click Settings > Plan
Your current plan will be listed at the top
Verify that your store is not only on a supported Shopify plan but is also in the "Imported" status for it to appear under Shopify's Online Store menu.
If you’re on the Starter plan, you’ll need to upgrade to Basic or higher to use Atlas fully.
Tip:If your store generation gets stuck at 99%, your Shopify plan is one of the first things to check.
Similarly, if your store is not visible under Shopify’s Online Store menu, check whether its status is still "Generated" instead of "Imported" in Atlas.
