Cleaning the Home Entry

Use this article to clean the entry of a Landing home: the front door, the area just inside it, and the home's own entry hallway.

Who this is for: Hosts and Cleaning Companies cleaning a Landing home.

This covers the home's own entry and entry hallway. It does not cover the building hallway outside the unit. For the standard your work needs to meet, see Landing Cleaning Standards.

When you arrive, take a photo of the front door that clearly shows the unit number before you go in.

How do I clean the front door and the outside area?

  1. Sweep the area in front of and around the door.

  2. Dust around the door frame.

  3. Remove any dirt, debris, and cobwebs, including from any light fixtures near the door.

  4. Clean scuffs off the door with the magic eraser from your cleaning kit. The magic eraser is one of the items in Building Your Host Cleaning Kit.

  5. Check the door for any damage. If there is damage you cannot clean off, report it to Landing with a maintenance request.

How do I clean the inside entry?

The entry looks different from home to home. In some floorplans it is a small hallway just inside the front door; in others the front door opens straight into a room and the entry is simply the area that connects to the rest of the home. Clean whichever shape the home has.

  1. Clean around the inside of the door frame.

  2. Check behind the door and clean there too.

  3. Clean the floor of the entry and any entry hallway, sweeping or vacuuming and then mopping where the floor needs it.
