How to work through a cleaning job
Work in this order. It saves you time and stops you cleaning the same surface twice.
Assess the situation. Walk the home first and see what state it is in before you start.
Start the laundry and dishes first. Both run while you work on everything else.
Clean from top to bottom. Dust and debris fall as you go, so finish with the floors.
Every room
These apply throughout the whole home.
Remove scuffs from walls, baseboards, and floors
Confirm there are no off putting smells
Clean the air vents
Dust the entire home from top to bottom
Clean the windows and window sills
Sweep, vacuum, and mop the floors
Remove all trash
Confirm all linens are clean

Kitchen
Clean the kitchen appliances, inside and out. This covers the refrigerator, oven, stovetop, dishwasher, microwave, Keurig, toaster, and blender.
Wash all dirty dishes
Empty and clean inside the cabinets
Clean the countertops and backsplash
Clean the sink and faucet
Bathrooms
Clean the shower and bathtub, including the faucet, shower head, shower door, and drain grout
Clean the toilet and the area around the toilet
Clean the bathroom sink, faucet, and drain
Clean the mirrors and glass
Vacuum the drawers and cabinets
Fold and hang the towels
Bedroom
Clean out the drawers and under the bed
Make the bed
Living room
Vacuum all furniture
Confirm the furniture is in excellent condition
Utility and laundry
Clean the washing machine and dryer, clearing out the lint and wiping off any detergent residue
Clean out the vacuum and the end of the broom
Patio
Wipe down the furniture and railing
Sweep the patio
