Isla supports email communications with patients to:

  • Make requests for new submissions via email

  • Respond to patient submissions via email

  • Share PDF extracts of a patient's record with the patient in a secure way

The ability to send requests via email is valuable for patients who may not have smart phones or good connectivity, for teams who may need teachers at schools to upload on a patient's behalf, or for care teams to make submissions into Isla.

Securely sharing a PDF with the patient, which may feature advice or information relevant to their recovery pathway, proceeds via two factor authentication to provide a patient access to parts of their Isla record without them logging in or creating an account.

To achieve this, a user can generate a PDF and opt to email this PDF to the patient. Isla will then:

  • Encrypt this PDF with a passcode

  • Email the encrypted PDF to the patient's email

  • Send the passcode to the patient's phone via SMS

This provides a secure mechanism to instantly provide access to patients
