Recording a Hintro is actually really simple. The challenge of Hintro is getting comfortable on camera and comfortable recording yourself.

It's the same as anything else in recruitment, the more you do, the better you get and the more natural you'll come across.

Hints and tips:

To record a great Hintro you need a couple of things:

  • Use a good quality webcam, ideally HD, which works with your PC/laptop. Don't worry about what's going on in the background, clients/candidates don't expect your office to be silent.

  • Use a dedicated microphone. Using your built in PC/laptop microphone will most likely pick up a lot of background noise unless you're in an empty room. We have seen a lot of success using either a headset with a noise cancelling microphone OR a clip on USB mic to isolate just your voice.

  • Prepare what you're going to say. Preparation is important, but don't read a script it just sounds robotic. Introduce yourself, explain why you're getting in contact and end with a call to action.

  • Don't go on too long. If you're introducing yourself to someone new, chances are they will have a limited attention span. 45-90 seconds is plenty of time to generate engagement without losing interest.
