File upload questions

Learn how to use file upload questions to make the most of your custom questions.

Updated this week

Need candidates to submit a portfolio, a short video, or some code? File upload questions make it easy to collect exactly what you need—right within your assessment. In this guide, you’ll learn how to add file upload questions, define accepted file types, and review submitted files. Let’s dive in!

Adding a file upload question

To add a file upload question to your assessment, simply hit ‘Add file upload question‘ in the assessment builder.

Next you can set a question text, incl. all markdown features we support.

You can define allowed type files using the four quick select options (Documents, Images, Videos, Audio, Code) and/or specify the file types you want to allow yourself. Note that all file types will be allowed if you provide no option/input.

Additionally, you can allow multiple file submission per question.

As all other custom question types, file upload questions can be made required.
