What model of OpenAI does HMH AI Tools use?
We use the latest OpenAI models that best fit each task. Our tools are thoughtfully designed and regularly updated to ensure reliable, high-quality support for teaching and learning.
How accurate is the information that is generated by AI?
HMH uses a human-centered approach to AI, combining large language models trained on public data with research-based content and carefully designed prompts to improve accuracy and alignment with curriculum. However, AI can still make mistakes, so users should always review and verify AI-generated content before using it in the classroom.
Does HMH Tools hallucinate?
We have not encountered hallucination (when AI generates false or misleading information presented as fact). HMH uses a higher-end OpenAI language model than what typical users access, ensuring more reliable responses. While our AI is trained on publicly available data we don’t control, we enhance accuracy by adding research-based content and carefully crafted prompts. Still, AI can make mistakes, so users should always review and verify AI-generated content before classroom use.
Where can I export my AI Tool creations?
Most assets can be exported as PDF, Word, or PPT files. If you use Writable, the "Create in Writable" option lets you automatically send AI-generated content from compatible tools into Writable as an assignment, ready to assign or customize.
Which HMH programs are integrated into AI tools?
Currently, Into Literature V2 and Into Reading V2 are included. More curriculum integration such as Into Math will be added in the future.
What’s the difference between AI-generated content and content from HMH products?
HMH curriculum is carefully created and vetted by experts to deliver consistent, high-quality instruction. In contrast, AI-generated content is produced on-demand by AI to help teachers customize and adapt materials for their classroom needs. While HMH continuously refines AI outputs with teacher feedback to improve accuracy and relevance, AI content can vary and should always be reviewed before use.
Will there be professional development (PD) provided for using AI tools?
HMH is actively supporting professional learning for AI Tools this Fall, including:
Live Chat on AI Tools pages for pedagogy and “how-to” questions
Virtual mini-courses available for Back to School
Monthly live events through Teacher’s Corner and Leader’s Corner during the 2025-26 school year (excluding April)
An AI Conference scheduled for October
*Coaching packages for AI Tools are currently being developed
Will AI-generated quizzes and outputs integrate with reports in HMH Ed?
HMH AI Tools are designed for teachers only and do not collect student work, so they don’t generate reports directly. However, teachers can send AI-generated content to Writable as assignments, where student work is tracked and formative data is available in Writable dashboards. In the future, Writable data will be integrated into HMH dashboards, with ongoing consideration of customer feedback for reporting features.
