Getting started with your Smart SIM (iOS)

Got a new Smart SIM? Follow the steps to check you're set up correctly

Installing your Smart SIM ๐Ÿ“ฒ

This adds your Honest Smart SIM to your phone so you can start using it.

  1. Open the Smart SIM email you received

  2. Find the QR code and scan the QR code with your phone

Enabling data roaming ๐ŸŒ

This makes sure your Smart SIM works properly and is connected when youโ€™re in the UK or abroad.

  1. Open Settings

  2. Tap Mobile Service

  3. Select your Smart SIM

  4. Toggle on Data Roaming


Data switching ๐Ÿ”„

This makes sure your main SIM handles mobile data, and your Smart SIM can step in when needed.

  1. Open Settings

  2. Tap Mobile Service

  3. Tap on Mobile Data

  4. Select your main SIM (not the Smart SIM) as the data SIM

  5. Go back to the Mobile Data screen

  6. Toggle on Allow Mobile Data Switching


Making sure VPNs are off ๐Ÿ“ก

VPNs will block your Smart SIM connection, so it's best to turn them off.

  1. Open Settings

  2. Tap General > VPN

  3. Turn off any active VPN


Private Relay ๐Ÿ”’

This iCloud feature can interfere with your data connection, so itโ€™s best turned off.

  1. Open Settings

  2. Tap your name at the top

  3. Tap iCloud

  4. Tap Private Relay

  5. Turn Private Relay off


Testing your Smart SIM โœ…

Use the app to check everything's working as it should.

  1. Open the Honest app

  2. Tap SIMs

  3. Select your Smart SIM

  4. Tap Test Smart SIM

  5. Follow the on-screen steps

Basic troubleshooting steps ๐Ÿ”ง

If somethingโ€™s not working, try these quick fixes first.

  1. Check that Mobile Data is on

  2. Check that Data Roaming is on

  3. Check that Private Relay is off

  4. Check that any VPNs are off

  5. Restart your phone

๐Ÿš€ There's no need to manually change any APNs for the Smart SIM โ€“ this should all be done automatically.
