Classic Hose Reel - Broken Cog

Updated over a month ago

The cause of this issue was resolved on hose reels produced from 2017 onwards.

If the cog of the classic hose reel breaks, the hose will not layer across the hose reel spool. Instead, it will bunch in one spot, may not retract properly, or may produce a rattling sound that signals possible damage.

The cog plays a critical role in ensuring the hose layers evenly across the reel spool, preventing bunching and facilitating smooth operation. This component interacts intricately with the reel's black belt and spindle, ensuring seamless functionality of the system during hose retraction and extension.

The cog is a small round white plastic piece, identifiable by the serrated teeth that line the outer rim.

It works in conjunction with the black belt and spindle to maintain alignment during operation.

If broken, the cog may appear as a half-circle with missing teeth and may rattle around in the base of the reel. This damage often causes uneven layering of the hose, impaired retraction, and audible rattling during operation.

As this issue was resolved in 2017, hose reel repair is no longer supported by the Hoselink maintenance team. However, replacement cogs can be provided by the customer service team for self repair.

Self-Repair is a complex and technical process and not recommended by the Hoselink Team.

However, we appreciate that some customers may have the technical expertise to complete this at home.
