Before you begin
To set up this integration, you must be a Google Workspace Admin.
When the integration is enabled, it applies to all employees with a work email that has Google Workspace linked.
If your company has multiple email domains that use Google Workspace, you’ll need to configure Domain-Wide Delegation for each domain separately.
Only time off types will populate in Google Calendar. Working types, such as Working from home, won’t populate in the calendar.
Enabling Google Calendar integration in Humaans
In Humaans, click Integrations.
Scroll to find Google Calendar.
Click Configure to see a list of steps for setup. This should open in a new tab.
Take note of the Client ID and Scopes URL, because you’ll need them later.
Click Open Google Workspace Admin to configure Domain-Wide Delegation. This is a permission in Google Workspaces that allows an external application to create, edit, and delete calendar entries for you.
A new tab will open where you’ll need to login to Google Workspace using the relevant email address.
Click Add new, beside API Clients.
Paste the client ID from step four.
Paste the Scopes URL from step four into the OAuth Scopes field.
Click Authorise to enable your Humaans workspace and allow calendar requests from Humaans.
Return to Humaans, and click Test connection. You will see a list of four actions populate below the button. If the connection has been successful, you’ll see green ticks beside each action.
Toggle on Google Calendar sync to show all future approved time away in employee Google Calendars.
Click Sync now to populate all employee approved ongoing and upcoming time away entries to each of their Google Calendars.
Activity logs
To view activity logs, open the Logs panel in your Google Calendar integration. It records activities such as when a time away booking successfully or unsuccessfully syncs with Google Calendar. It also logs when a work email is skipped because it isn’t registered with Google Workspace
Viewing your time away in Google Calendar
Once the above steps are completed, any time away bookings approved will appear automatically in your Google Calendar as Out of office.
It will be set up to automatically decline any new meeting invitations, and will send a generic message saying “Declined because I am out of office.”
You can edit these settings directly through Google Calendar.
Making edits to time away bookings
If edits are made to your time away booking in Humaans, they will sync with your Google Calendar automatically.
