Humaans allows you to assign and customise public holiday calendars, giving your organisation the ability to add in specific days off associated with the company, such as office closures in specific locations.
Automatic public holiday calendar assignments
Humaans can automatically apply public holiday calendars to members based on their Place of work. You can change these defaults when editing your PTO policy. For more, see Managing PTO polices.
The available options are as follows:
Based on place of work - this is the default behaviour. The geographical location of the office or remote city is taken into account, and automatically assigns the local / regional public holiday calendar to the employee.
โAssign a specific calendar - Allows you to set a specific calendar to be used for the employees assigned to the policy. For example, you can use this option to place everyone under the public holiday calendar of the company HQ.
Another example for this option would be if you wanted to disable regional/state holidays, and have everyone under a general country wide policy.
โNo public holidays - allows you to disable the public holiday calendar altogether and not provide any days to the employees under this PTO policy.
Manually assigning public holiday calendars to employees
You can also individually assign public holiday calendars to specific employees. This can be very useful in instances when you have employees with local public holidays you want to include in a custom public holiday calendar. For more on this, see creating custom holiday calendars.
You can assign public holiday calendars with the following steps:
In the People dashboard, click on the desired employee, then click Manage time away.
Under Details, click Edit next to Public holidays.
If you want the assign the employee to the public holiday calendar that is associated with their policy, click Based on assigned policy.
If you want to assign a specific public holiday calendar to the employee, click Specific public holiday calendar, then select from the dropdown or type in the calendar name in the field provided.
When you're ready, click Save.
Editing public holiday calendars
You can edit existing public holiday calendars by following these steps:
In the Home menu, click Settings, then click Time away.
In the Public holidays section, find the desired public holiday calendar, then click View. A window showing the public holidays will appear.
Click Edit calendar. You can enable/disable public holidays with the toggles, or add a new public holiday/office closure by selecting Add public holiday in the bottom left-hand corner.
You can also delete custom days that you have already added previously from the calendar.
When ready, click Save to confirm your changes.
After saving, you will be able to see the assigned public holidays/office closures appear in the Who's away section in Humaans, assigned to the employee's under the calendar.
When adding in a custom day to a public holiday calendar, please note that it will only apply to that specific year. You can add to previous/upcoming years by toggling the year in the top right hand corner when editing the calendar.
