Navigating in the control tab
Depending on your organization's needs, your program or programs may have hundreds of controls. Hyperproof offers several ways to find and sort your controls easily. The Controls tab shows all of your controls based on the programs that you have configured in Hyperproof.
In this video tutorial, we'll go through how to navigate within the Controls tab.
The tutorial below is from the perspective of the administrator role with object permission as a manager. If you are in a different Hyperproof role or have a different permission, you may not have access to some of the areas shown, or they may be grayed out.
Viewing controls
Depending on your organization's needs, your program or programs may have hundreds of controls. Hyperproof offers several ways to find and sort your controls easily.
Controls can either be viewed in one centralized location (at the organizational level) or from within a program.
To view all controls in your organization, select Controls from the left menu.

From the left navigation menu, select Programs.
Select your program.
Select the Controls tab.
A list containing the controls in that specific program is displayed, including the controls that you have linked to this program. As a reminder, you can click on your controls from here, and it will take you to the Controls tab on the left navigation bar.
Different views on controls
Within the Controls tab, you can access different views. These views are Card view, Grid view, and Crosswalk view.
Click the arrows below to learn more:
Card view
Card view
Card view provides a kanban-style display of your controls, with each control represented by a single card that includes the name and/or description of the control, the number of requirements it’s linked to, and the control owner’s photo or initials. Card view is helpful for quickly grouping controls by owner or domain.
Grid view
Grid view
Grid view provides a more traditional tabular view of your controls, with each row in the table representing a single control. Grid view is also where you’ll perform bulk changes, such as adding a user as an owner for several controls.
Grid columns can be resized and reordered. To shrink or expand the width of a column, click and drag the column, letting go of the mouse button once you’ve reached the desired result.
Crosswalk view
Crosswalk view
Using Hyperproof’s crosswalk feature helps you become more efficient in managing your various compliance projects. Because you’ll have already done most of the work in one program, you’ll only need to collect proof for a smaller set of controls, saving you and your team hours or weeks' worth of work.
The crosswalk view allows you to visualize and manage the crosswalk view between controls and requirements.
Modeled after the SCF Common Controls spreadsheet, controls in the crosswalk view are listed vertically, one per row, and requirements are listed horizontally, one per column. The cell for the intersection of a control and a program lists the requirement that a specific control is linked to in the program. If a control is not part of the program, the cell displays as empty.
Fields available in the crosswalk view are Name, Health, Control ID, Domain, Description, and Program. Other fields, both built-in and custom, are not available in the crosswalk view.
Grouping and sorting controls
In card view, controls can be grouped and sorted using the Group By and Sort By dropdown menus.
Controls can be grouped by the following properties: None, Domain, Owner, Implementation, Testing status, and Automation. Note that grouping controls by custom fields only works for single-select custom fields.
They can be sorted by the following properties: Control ID, Name, Freshness, Health, Number of programs, Recently updated, Domain, and Owner.
In grid view, columns can be sorted in ascending and descending order. To sort by a particular column, click on the column’s heading (and click again to reverse the sort order).
Filtering controls
Filtering controls allow you to display only the controls that you need. Control filtering works in both card view and grid view.
Resizing grid columns
Grid columns can be resized and reordered. To shrink or expand the width of a column, click and drag the column, letting go of the mouse button once you’ve reached the desired result.
Grid resizing and reordering work on all grids found in Hyperproof.

Using the crosswalk view
When in your Controls tab, there is a view specifically that is only available in this area and that is the Crosswalk view. This feature allows you to visualize and manage the crosswalk view between controls and requirements.
Modeled after the SCF (Secure Controls Framework), Common Controls spreadsheet, controls in the crosswalk view are listed vertically, one per row, and columns are listed horizontally, one per column. The cell for the intersection of control and a program lists the requirements to which a specific control is linked in a program. If a control is not part of the program, the cell displays as empty.

Accessing the crosswalk view
From the left navigation menu, select Controls.
Select the Crosswalk view icon.
Select the Details tab, and then change the status to Operating.
Click the Settings icon to:
Toggle columns on or off
Rearrange columns
Tip: The following fields are available in crosswalk view: Health, Control ID, Requirement ID, Domain, Name, Description, and Program. Other fields, both built-in fields and custom fields, are not available in crosswalk view.
While in the crosswalk view you can:
Click a Control ID to navigate to the control details.
Click a Requirement ID to navigate to the requirement details.
Edit the following fields by clicking the Edit icon: Domain, Name, and Description fields.
Link and unlink a control to a requirement by clicking the Edit icon in a Requirement ID cell.
Sort, filter, or resize the grid.
To resize, mouse over the header, and then mouse over the end of the column you want to resize. When the Resize arrow icon appears, drag it in the direction you want to resize the column.
Note: When sorting by the program column, the sort order is based on the number of requirements that a control is linked to. When the column is in ascending order, the controls that have one requirement linked are listed at the top, followed by the controls that have two requirements linked, then the controls that have three requirements linked, and so on. When a column is in descending order, the list is reversed, with the controls with the most linked requirements listed at the top.
Control details tab
Now that we've navigated to the Control tab, let's discuss the Details tab. To access this tab, navigate to the Controls tab and select a control. In the Details area, you can edit information about your control, assign custom fields, see linked requirements, or view the health of your control.
In this video tutorial, we'll walk through navigating this area and learn about all of the different items listed above.
The tutorial below is from the perspective of the administrator role with object permission as a manager. If you are in a different Hyperproof role or have a different permission, you may not have access to some of the areas shown, or they may be grayed out.
A new Links tab is now available, consolidating all previously linked items found on the Details tab. You can also link any items directly from this tab. Please note that the video below is outdated due to this change.
