Why won’t Excel (.xlsx), Word (.docx), or Powerpoint (.pptx) proof open in full screen?

When attempting to view an Excel or Word proof in full-screen mode from the proof viewer modal, clicking the bottom-right toolbar button results in an error screen instead of displaying the proof.

Affected Functionality:

Full-screen expand button located at the bottom right of the black toolbar in the proof viewer modal.

Redirected to this error screen when the expand button is selected (proof does not load):

The error screen reads:
"An error occurred: We’re sorry, but for some reason we can’t open this for you."

Note
The issue occurs only for Excel (.xlsx), Word (.docx), and PowerPoint (.pptx) proofs.

Root Cause

  • The problematic full-screen button is part of a Microsoft-controlled iframe.

  • This functionality is solely controlled by Microsoft and cannot be altered or fixed from our platform.

  • Development confirmed that this is not resolvable from our side.

To view proof in full screen mode:

For a seamless full-screen experience, we recommend using Hyperproof’s built-in maximize option located in the top-right corner of the proof preview modal. Simply click the double-arrow icon [⤢] next to the close ["X"] button. This Hyperproof feature ensures you can successfully view your proof in full-screen mode every time.

This alternate button works for all document types, including Excel, Word, and Powerpoint.
