When you receive a notification with the subject "Issue creating repeating task: <task name>", it means that a task instance failed to generate from a task template. This issue is often related to integrations such as Jira, but the resolution process can be applied to other integrations as well.
Understanding repeating tasks:
A task template defines the details of the task, including its schedule or trigger.
A repeating task is an individual task created from the template. It is linked to the template but functions independently once generated.
What causes the notification:
If a template is triggered and an error occurs during task creation, a notification is sent to organization administrators or other users with proper permissions. These notifications are sent via email, Slack, or Teams, depending on the configuration. The subject line remains consistent across platforms.
Steps to fix the failed task instance:
Open the notification email or message.
Click the "Repeating task: <task name>" link.
The task instance will open, and the reason for the failure will be displayed on the right side (for example, an invalid Jira label).
Click Start Over under the INTEGRATIONS section. This clears the integration data for that specific task instance.
Reconfigure the task by selecting Jira and entering valid integration values.
Click Save to finalize the corrected task instance.
Steps to fix the task template:
Use the "Template: View in Hyperproof and update" link found in the email, Slack, or Teams notification.
The task template will open in Hyperproof.
Remove or correct any invalid integration settings (such as an incorrect Jira label).
Click Save to update the template.
Future instances generated from the updated template will reflect the corrected settings. Any existing failed task instances must be fixed individually.
