In the Work items module, the filter for Tasks, Requests, Evaluations, Issues, and Approvals includes a Due date dropdown menu. If you select two parameters within the dropdown menu, the query is handled as an OR statement.
For example, if you select Before or on 5/1/25, all results prior to 5/1/25 are returned. If you also select past due from the Due date dropdown menu, all results prior to today's date are returned. Here is a screenshot example of what that looks like:
If you only want to see results for objects due prior to 5/1/25, you should only select the single parameter Before or on. You would not use the past due parameter. Here is an example of what that would look like:
