Save button disabled when editing repeating task templates

When multi-step approvals are enabled, you must click "Edit approvals" in the template before the save button will activate for any changes, including to the description field.

If you're trying to edit a repeating task template, but the "Save" button remains grayed out even after hitting "Save" on the field you are editing, this behavior is related to a specific backend feature.

Root cause of the issue

This issue occurs when your organization has the multi-step approvals workflow feature enabled on the backend. When this feature is active, the system requires that you interact with the Approvals section of the template before it will allow any changes—such as edits to the description field—to be saved.

Steps to work around the issue

To successfully save changes to the repeating task template:

  1. Open the repeating task template you'd like to edit.

  2. Scroll to the Automations section.

  3. Click the "Edit approvals" button.

  4. After clicking into this area, the "Save" button at the bottom of the template should become active.

  5. Proceed to save your changes.
