The import tool allows you to add external lists of contacts or volunteers to your i360 database. This is known as your MyData database. Tags can also be applied through the import process. Those records can be supplemented with up-to-date contact information from i360's database.
Disclaimer: Please be aware that our Survey Creation Process operates using our standard DMI voter addresses. Importing a file that updates voter addresses may result in the survey being unable to route to those addresses. It's important to consider this limitation when updating or importing voter address data.
Access Imports
Navigate to Imports via the Contacts tab by selecting Imports.
Types of Imports
For step-by-step guidance on each import type, please select the relevant hyperlink in this section.
Contact Import: Insert new records, or update existing records in your database. Tags can be applied by values in columns of the import, or applied to all of the records in the import.
Tag Import: Tag the individuals in the imported file. Tags can be applied by values in columns of the import, or applied to all of the records in the import.
Before Importing
Files are limited to 15 million bytes.
CSV is recommended format.
Make sure to read through your file and clean any data discrepancies before importing, such as incomplete records or special characters.
When specifying State, you must use the correct two-letter state abbreviation, i.e. for New York the value in the file must be NY.
If you are importing to volunteers, make sure that no duplicate emails exist in your file. i360 requires a unique email address to create a volunteer.

Import Workflow
The import process has 6 steps, two of which are optional.
Create An Import: the users will attach the file, name it, choose an import option, and apply Global Tags, if desired. (Required)
Map Fields: users pick an ID type and/or may specify where in their client database specific fields should be inserted (understanding this will overwrite any existing data). (ID Type Required)
Tag Columns: if the user has chosen Tag Columns, this is where the user will map the values from columns chosen to specific tags. (Optional)
Tag Values: if the user chooses to tag individual data points in the columns, do that here (Optional)
Verify Data: Verify your file's data & the mapped columns to ensure fields are mapped correctly.
Confirmation: here users can review and finalize their Import. (Required)
Map Fields
i360 UIDs: Uses i360's unique ID number for each contact to ensure records are matching directly to i360's database. (Use only for import files that already contain this identifier)
State Voter IDs: Uses a unique state voter ID number that exists for every registered voter in a particular state or local jurisdiction. (Only possible for participating states)
Outside IDs (not recommended in most cases): Few use cases. We recommend reaching out to i360 Support if you have an ID that may fit this category.
i360 Person IDs (not recommended in most cases): Uses a unique identifying number specific to each client for each contact being imported. (Use only for import files that already contain this identifier)
No IDs: If you do not have an i360 UID, or a State Voter ID, cross-reference a file's data with i360’s data. This import must contain at least a First and Last Name, and either a Phone Number, Email or Zip Code for each row in the file. The more (accurate) data included in the file, the higher the match rate. You may select additional fields to map on.
After Importing
Users may track the progress of their import home page under the 'Status' column. Refer to the Status Legend at the bottom right of the screen (next to Create Import) for clarification on what each symbol means.
Double-clicking on a submitted import's name will display details for that import on the right. If an import has not been submitted yet, double-clicking will bring you back to the import draft.
If an import was unable to upload any records, an Exceptions download link will appear in the import row.
Selecting it will display those records so that the user may re-import them.
Please note that the Exceptions file will not display records that have misspelled states or incorrect State abbreviations, but will display records that failed for any other reason.
Import times can vary depending on the size of the file, number of tags applied, and site-wide import usage. If imports appear to take an unusually long time to load, please contact i360 Support.
