4. Common Workflows

A. Find a Specific Instrument

  1. Type part of the Instrument Name or Station Name into the search bar.

  2. The top grid updates in real time.

B. Toggle “On Hold” for Multiple Instruments

  1. Click Edit Grid.

  2. Click the On Hold cell on any selected row to toggle it ✓ or ✕—all selected rows update together.

  3. Click Save (the green checkmark that replaces Edit Grid) to commit.

C. Bulk-Import Assignments

  1. Click Import above the top grid.

  2. Select your formatted CSV/Excel file containing columns for Station Type, Station Name, Instrument Type, Instrument Name, and flags.

  3. Confirm and upload. GeoSens will merge or replace mappings based on the file content.

D. Delete Old Assignments

  1. Filter the grid to locate outdated rows (e.g. Station Group = “Decommissioned”).

  2. Select those rows’ checkboxes.

  3. Click Delete and confirm.

5. Best Practices

  • Consistent Naming: Ensure station and instrument names in your import files exactly match those in GeoSens.

  • Use Search First: Narrow down thousands of rows quickly via the top search bar.

  • Batch Edits: Always enter Edit Grid mode to modify multiple rows at once—don’t edit one row at a time.

  • Audit Your Imports: After importing, immediately verify key mappings by filtering on newly added Station Type or Instrument Name.

  • Minimal Admin-Only Flags: Reserve Admin Only for truly sensitive instruments or sets.
