1. Introduction

The monitoring status job setting page in Geosens allows you to:

  • Select instrument(s) or station group(s) to monitor

  • Define monitoring frequency -- expected number of readings for a specified timeframe

  • Schedule monitoring checks to verify reading records

These functions ensure systematic monitoring and help identify discrepancies in data collection.

2. Page Navigation

Expand Monitoring Status → click Monitoring Frequency Settings.

3. How to Create a New Monitoring Frequency Job

3.1 Step A: Access the Settings Panel

  • Click on ‘+New’ on the top right corner function bar.

  • A new Monitoring Frequency Setting panel will display at the 2nd half of the page. Scroll down to access it.

3.2 Step B: Filter out instruments / station groups

At the left-hand side panel, monitoring instruments / station groups can be selected and configured by types, status, and time. Filling the fields:

Field Name

Explanation

Monitoring Status Check Name

A unique name for this monitoring status job. Example: BH-PKG.

Category

Select specified categories to narrow down the instruments / station-groups.

Example: DownSide, WESTLOCSITE – to filter out all instruments / station-groups that are in this category only.

Instrument / Station-Group

To narrow down the selection list by selecting whether it is instrument(s) or station-group(s) to be monitored.

Instrument / Station-group Type

To narrow down the instruments / station-groups by selecting the type of instrument / station-group used for frequency monitoring.

Example: Disto Displacement Sensor (Triaxial) (WiSen).

Start Date-Time

Defines when the monitoring check begins, marking the start of the time range for monitoring frequency check.

Example: 01-01-2021 21:41:11 – Marks the starting time point for a monitoring check.

This is particularly useful for instant Run/Execution of the Job for the data in the past.

NOTE: If the field is left empty, no Start time limit is applied to this job, meaning all time is included in this job.

End Date-Time

Establishes when the monitoring check concludes, setting the endpoint for the time range being analyzed.

Example: 31-12-2021 21:41:11 – Indicates the ending time point for a monitoring frequency check.

This is particularly useful for instant Run/Execution of the Job for the data in the past.

NOTE: If the field is left empty, no End time limit is applied to this job, meaning all time is included in this job.

Admin Only (Checkbox)

By default, the Admin Only option is unticked, so the monitoring status results can be viewed by authorized project users.

If the Admin Only checkbox is ticked, its monitoring status results will only be visible to project administrators.

Disabled (Checkbox)

Indicates this monitoring frequency check job is inactive/disabled when ticked.

To Count Data Records With

Tick to count data records even which is in the status of On-Hold, In Quarantine, and/or Disqualified.

For example, when the On-Hold option is unticked, record with On-Hold will not be counted as a valid data for the monitoring frequency.

Example:

The above settings mean data records which are in the status of ‘On-Hold’, ‘In Quarantine’, and ‘Disqualified’ will be taken into account as a part of monitoring frequency check.

Overdue

or Over Read

By default, the system only captures Overdue situation.

NOTE: Geosens captures overdue by default.

  • If neither of ‘capture overdue’ nor ‘capture over reads’ is ticked, Geosens will capture Overdue only.

  • If only ‘capture over reads’ is ticked, Geosens will capture Over Reads only.

Example:

The above settings mean both Overdue and Over Read status will be captured into outstanding items.

3.3 Step C: Instruments Included / Excluded

At the Middle Upper part of the page, there is an Instrument section for the project users to select Instruments to include and/or exclude in this Job.

Type the name or partial of name in the search field to narrow down the list and click on specified instrument(s) to add it into Selected Instruments or Selected Excluded Instruments List.

Selected Instruments List:

Note 1: if no instrument is selected and appear in the Selected Instruments list, all instruments inside selected Categories and/or Type will be included in this monitoring status job.

Note 2: if there are some instruments selected in the Selected Instruments list, only these selected instruments will be taken into account for this Job.

Selected Excluded Instruments List:

Note 1: if no instrument is selected and appear in the Selected Excluded Instruments list, no particular instrument should be excluded inside Selected Instruments list, Categories and/or Type in this monitoring status job.

Note 2: if there are some instruments selected in the Selected Excluded Instruments list, these Instruments should not be taken into account for this Job.

3.4 Step D: Scheduler with Time Particular

At the Middle Bottom part of the page, there is a Scheduler with Time Particular section.

Each Time Particular option is described below.

Field

Explanation

Time Boundary

To set up a specific time boundary (i.e. hours, minutes, second) within the period of monitoring scan if necessary.

Both From and To Times are nullable.

Example 1:

9:30 to 23:00 → Only data readings taken within the time boundary, 9:30am to 23:00pm in a day will be taken into account in this Monitoring Frequency Check.

Example 2:

Leave the fields empty. → 24 hrs, i.e. 00:00:00 to 24:00:00 in a day will be set by default.

Start Day

Start Day of the Week: when the period to scan is setup as N Week(s), this field is to define which day is the Start day of the Week.

Start Day of the Month: when the period to scan is setup as N Month(s), this field is to define which day is the Start day of the Month.

Configure the system to scan data from the last specified period, such as one week, counting back from the scheduled job execution time.

Period To Scan = number + time unit (wk, day, hr, minutes, etc) + starting day of the week + starting day of the month. The fields are optional and will only need to be filled in certain scenarios.

Example 1:

1 + week + Monday + Empty → It means Geosens will count 1 week back from the scheduled job execution time and count starting from Monday.

Example 2:

1 + Months + empty + 1st of the month → it means Geosens will count 1 month back from the scheduled job execution time and count starting from the 1st of the month.

Period To Scan

Period To Scan = A number + Time unit (Minutes, Hours, Days, Weeks, & Months)

Job Schedule

To set up a schedule when the monitoring job will conduct.

Example: The below settings indicate that the monitoring job will conduct every month, every day at 14:00pm.

Time Boundary & Period To Scan & Job Schedule

*The three settings must be time-consistent and logically aligned, avoiding any duplicates or overlaps that could confuse Geosens.

Example 1 on interactive settings:

The above settings indicate: The monitoring status job will execute on 1st each month, and the monitoring scan time range is the last 1 month. Therefore, the scanning time range will be: 1st of last month to 1st of current month when the job is executed.

Example 2 on interactive settings:

The above settings indicate: The monitoring status job will execute on 1st each month, and the monitoring scan time range is the last 2 weeks starting on Monday.

3.5 Step E: Monitoring Frequency Settings

At the right-hand side panel, monitoring frequency will be set to configure the expected number of readings in a certain schedule:
