Tutorial 2 - 3D Data Import & Timelines

1 - Adding GIS

  1. Click the GIS Layer Window

  2. Click Add Cloud Layer

  3. Enter a Layer Name and URL from the list below.

  4. Change the Layer Type to the marked Layer Type

  5. Click Add

  6. Close the GIS Layer Window

2 - Adding BIMs.

  1. Open the ACC Window

  2. Navigate to your BIMs

  3. Select the four models by Shift clicking the first and last.

  4. Place the models in the world.

    1. You will notice the Structural Model is not aligned correctly via geolocation.

  5. Select the Structural Model in the ACC menu.

  6. In the Inspector change the BIM Version to 1

  7. Click in the world and in the dialog box that appears, select replace the existing model, this will remove version 2, and replace with version 1.

From here you can open the BIM Hierarchy Window and select the models to adjust their height to your location if needed.

If you are looking to place a model that is not located correctly you can click the Override Geolocation toggle to On in the Selection Inspector

3 - Create Simple Schedule.

Next we are going to create a schedule with 11 Tasks and 5 custom SubTasks to represent a very simple sequence to assemble this bridge.

  1. Open the Task Timeline Window

  2. Click Create Programme

  3. Create a Programme that has 11 Tasks and starts today and ends in 1 year.

  4. Change to the Edit Task Mode

  5. Hover over a Task and click the pencil to rename the 11 Tasks to be as follows

    1. Phase 1 > Earthworks

    2. Phase 2 > Piles

    3. Phase 3 > Piers

    4. Phase 4 > Columns

    5. Phase 5 > Headstocks

    6. Phase 6 > Girder Span 1

    7. Phase 7 > Girder Span 2

    8. Phase 8 > Girder Span 3

    9. Phase 9 > Structure

    10. Phase 10 > Pavement

    11. Phase 11 > Electrical

4 - Creating Subtasks

  1. In Timeline Edit Mode toggle to Create Mode

  2. Zoom in on the timeline to span "Girder Span 1"

    1. Use the handles at the bottom of the Timeline Window

    2. Hold Ctrl and scroll on the mouse wheel to zoom in.

  3. Create 5 Sub Tasks under Girder Span 1, by setting the timeline to Create Mode, and click and drag on the existing Girder Span 1 task bar, to create each subtast in turn.

  4. Move back to the Timeline View Mode

5 - Manual BIM Linking

  1. Open the Task Inspector Window

  2. Select the first Task "Earthworks"

  3. Select the Earthworks Model and Subselect the two Earthworks

  4. Click the Plus beside Manual Links

  5. Ensure the Link type is set correctly

  6. Click Save to create the link

  7. Repeat the Manual Links for Piles, Piers, Headstock and first girder Span

6 - Search Set Linking

  1. Open the Task Inspector Window

  2. Select the second Girder Task "Girder Span 2"

  3. Select the model you wish to link to

  4. Click the Plus beside Search Set Links

  5. Create the Search set lists below for the last

  6. Ensure the Link type is set correctly

  7. Click Save to create the link

  8. Repeat the Manual Links for Girder Span 3, Pavement, Structure, Electrical in that order
