Now that you’ve created your account, you’re all ready to start figuring out which content and experiences will really tickle your audiences’ brains!
To get started, create your first experience through your web account! Many people choose to first run a few measurements on themselves, just to get familiarized, while others have planned content or experiences they’re already set to test with others! Whichever best describes you, we’ve laid out some quick steps here to get you started.

Step 2: Set up the logistics!
Step 3: Invite participants!
Step 4: Data is passively collected!
Step 1: Choose what you’re going to measure!
If you don’t have a planned measurement in mind, we suggest trying Immersion out with fun tasks around your house, such as watching your favorite TV show, online shopping, game night, or cooking your favorite meal to initially get familiarized. For more practical use, measure immersion at work to determine the captivation of your teammates during a meeting or measure the extent to which a piece of content created by you or your organization connects! Once you understand the endless possibilities Immersion offers, you will be measuring how captivated you are with every part of life!
Pre-recorded experience: Interested in knowing how your brain is going to respond to the latest Marvel trailer? Have a cool piece of video or audio content you’ve created and want to know how it’s going to land with your peers? Awesome! For any pre-recorded content you’d like to explore, simply click the blue ‘Measure New Experience’ button from your dashboard, then choose the Pre-recorded tile!
Live experience: Want to know how excited your brain gets when you’re cooking dinner, shopping at your favorite store, interacting with your pet, or watching your favorite streaming show? Or maybe you want to see how connected you and your teammates are in your weekly meetings? Rad! Just select the blue ‘Measure New Experience’ button from your dashboard, then choose the Live Experience tile!
Step 2: Set up the logistics!
The Immersion platform was built to guide you through the process of setting up an experience, but we totally get that sometimes you want some extra context! Get all the nerdy deets on the experience setup steps here:
Select your category: Once you know what you want to measure and have chosen between “Pre-recorded” or “Live Experience”, you’re prompted to choose a category you are measuring. This selection determines the industry norms provided for comparison after the measurement is complete.**
**NOTE: If your experience doesn’t fit in a pre-made category, click “Other” and create your own category. For example, if you want to measure your immersion levels while cuddling with your cat, you might want to make your own category.
Link content / set agenda: Depending on your type of measurement, the next steps will vary. If you’re measuring content, you’ll be asked to link or upload and name the measurement. If you’re measuring live, you’ll be given a chance to add an agenda. Dig into all the nerdy details in the corresponding articles!
Schedule: You’ll also be asked to set the time for the experiences (they auto set for 1 hour) - don’t fret if you’re uncertain about this - you can always update the timing later!!
Step 3: Invite participants!
To get data, you need to invite “participants” (or as we like to call them, brains....were we zombies in a past life? Maybe....)! Think of these participants as the equivalent of survey respondents, but offering to share how their brain responded to your experience rather than their opinion after the fact. You can also always participate yourself to get started.
There are a few ways to invite participants:
Let Immersion send invites & instructions: During experience setup, you have the option of letting us send the invite and instructions to participants - simply enter email addresses into the field, or upload a CSV of addresses. Our system will send them an email with everything they need to participate!
Copy a public link to share: You’re also given a shareable link, which you can add into your own personally crafted email or which you can share through social media, Slack, etc! This will provide instructions on app download and participation.
Provide a code: You can also ask folks with a supported smartwatch or fitness sensor to download the ‘Immersion Mobile’ app (available on iPhone & Android), and then you can supply an experience code. You can copy the code from the "invite participants" page during setup or you’ll find the 5-digit alphanumeric code at the end of the shareable link (e.g., pre.getimmersion.com/r2172).
If folks are having trouble connecting and pairing their devices, refer to the articles below:

Step 4: Data is passively collected!
To participate, individuals will download our iPhone/Android app and then pair their smartwatch or fitness device (for supported devices, see here).
If you invite users via our system or using a shareable link, the experience will automatically load into their app queue. If users enter a code, doing so will add the experience to their app.
Participation is simple, and varies slightly depending on your category of measurement:
Pre-recorded content: Participants can complete the measurement anytime they want by clicking on the link they received via email or by clicking the experience tile from their app.** Participation is entirely at their convenience, and data will auto-aggregate for you as more people complete the measurement!
Live experience: Participants invited to participate in a live experience measurement will receive a notification a few minutes before the event begins to open their phone app and to start data collection via their smartwatch or fitness device.**
**NOTE: If participants sign in to the app as a Guest, OR if they create their Immersion Mobile account using an email that differs from that used to invite them or that used in the shareable link form, the experience will not show up in their queue. You may need to provide them the experience ID (the 5-digit alpha-numeric code found at the end of the shareable link).
