Our Story, Mission, and Vision
inClimate was started as an open-source project in 2021 in Berlin, when our founder Tim Steppich was looking for data about climate companies and couldn't find any good resources, especially not in Europe. Little did anyone know, back then, that this idea would turn into a company and a community with tens of thousands of users.
Our Mission Today:
Making the climate sector accessible to anyone - through job opportunities, community, and insights.
We believe that the only way to stop the climate and biodiversity crisis is to get as many people as possible involved in this effort. We don't need more smart people working in Finance, we need them to work on building and scaling solutions to the climate crisis.
Our Vision:
A world where anyone can apply their skills to fighting climate change while working on something they're passionate about.
Making Climate Accessible
According to our friend ChatGPT, making something accessible means:
"Removing barriers and providing the necessary resources or support so that a wider range of people can reach, understand, and benefit from something. It involves ensuring that it's easy to find, understand, and use by anyone, regardless of their background, abilities, or circumstances."
This is our credo in everything we work on. Let's break it down by looking at our three focus areas:
Job Opportunities
Community
Insights
(1) Job Opportunities
The world has increasingly faced three crises - (1) the climate and biodiversity crisis, (2) an energy crisis with war in Ukraine, and (3) a crisis of meaning since the pandemic. Together, these three have created the perfect storm for a movement of people looking for more meaningful work.
Many of us have woken up looking for meaning in our careers and trying to somehow contribute to the challenges we're facing as a society.
The good news is that anyone can leverage their skills to contribute to the climate crisis by working for a company that is building a solution to the climate crisis, or by helping our corporations become more sustainable.
We help anyone, for free, to find, understand, and benefit from jobs in the climate sector.
Among others, we built a matchmaking platform that gives anyone weekly and tailored job recommendations at companies that build solutions to the climate crisis.
We have become the #1 platform for climate jobs in Europe and now have users from 107 countries, using it to find climate jobs worldwide. The best part - it's free.
We only charge employers a small membership fee to have their jobs posted. That's how we finance inClimate.
(2) Community
How many people have gotten jobs through a random conversation they had at an event?
How many investments in startups have happened because of the investor's professional network?
How many co-founders have come up with an idea after they met somewhere over a drink?
Great opportunities and synergies come from human connection, 1:1 conversations, and being with the right people at the right time.
We believe that community and dialogue are key to helping us solve the climate crisis - together.
Over 25,000 inClimate members have started meeting up all over the world at conferences, weekend hikes, or just over a casual drink in a park.
(3) Insights
The climate sector is both gigantic and tiny. It's a huge sector with roughly 200 industries involved. However, not many people know what a climate job, climate-tech, and the climate sector is.
Where do you even start looking for a job, investment opportunities, or business ideas, when a sector spans 200 industries?
We simplify this process for anyone by breaking down the climate sector into a simple framework that users can follow to find jobs, companies, news, events, deep dives, and more.
We launched our insights section with a directory of all European climate companies, a members directory with 13,000 climate professionals, and more open-source lists of everything there is to know about the ecosystem.
β
Our weekly newsletter has become the go-to source to stay updated on European funding news, events, deep dives, and more.
β
We're extremely excited to soon be launching dynamic industry and country deep dives that let users easily map and explore the climate sector, to then connect with the right people.
We tried to keep this as a short overview of what inClimate does.
