Creating waitlists for your clinic
Updated over a week ago

You can create waiting lists in the TELUS Collaborative Health Record (CHR) to help you manage referred patients who are waiting for appointments. You may require multiple waiting lists to manage your patients effectively.

For example, a general surgery clinic has two referral waiting lists: waiting for a consultation and waiting for surgery.

You can customise your different waitlists with their own referral statuses. When viewing a referral and when filtering a waitlist by status, you only see the applicable statuses for that waitlist.

Steps

  1. From the main menu, click Settings > Referral.

  2. Click the Waiting lists tab.

πŸ’‘ Tip: To delete a created waitlist, click the X next to the waitlist.

  3. Click Add Waiting List. A New Waiting List window appears.

  4. In the Name field type the name of your waitlist.

  5. (Optional) Under Short Description, type a description of the waitlist.

πŸ“Œ Note: The short description appears under the name of the waitlist in the referral module.

  6. To use statuses from another list including your Default statuses, click Copy from another list. To add waitlist specific statuses, click +Add, and the Edit Status window appears.

    πŸ“Œ Notes:

    • If you want to use only the statuses in the Default statuses tab, you do not need to select any statuses hear.

    • If you are modifying an existing waiting list, to prevent losing existing statuses, first copy Default Statuses, and then add your custom statuses.

  7. Click Save.

πŸ’‘ Tips:

  • To remove statuses, click the X next to the status you want to remove. πŸ“ŒNote: If the waiting list status is currently used in an active referral, a message appears indicating that you cannot delete that status.

  • To set a referral status as default, click Default next to it. πŸ“Œ Note: If your clinic uses one status most of the time when receiving referrals, you can select it as the default status. This way, CHR users do not have to select the status every time they receive a referral.

  • You are able to create more then one status with the same name.

  • If you have created more than one waiting list or status, you can re-order them by dragging and dropping into the order you prefer.

⚠️ Important: Do not delete waiting lists if you already have patients/referrals within them.
