Configuring a metric units

Updated yesterday

Prerequisite: This feature is reserved for users with a 'Functional Administrator' role.

In Io-base, you can configure multiple units of measurement for a metric.

Log in to Io-base and navigate to the repository management menu to display your list of metrics.

Find the metric you wish to configure, then click the "Edit" icon located in the "Actions" column.

On the metric editing page, you will find a section dedicated to unit conversion settings.

Several essential fields allow you to configure this feature:

  • Category: Defines the nature of the measurement (e.g., Temperature, Length, Weight).

  • Unit: Indicates the base unit in which the value is stored in the system.

  • Target Unit 1 / Target Unit 2: Allow you to define alternative units for displaying and exporting data.

The first step is to select a category. Click on the "Category" field to bring up the list of available measurement types.

Once the category is chosen, the dropdown lists for the "Unit," "Target Unit 1," and "Target Unit 2" fields are automatically updated to offer only units compatible with the selected category.

  • Select the source unit you wish to associate with your metric.

  • Next, define one or two target units to which you want to facilitate conversion.

Note: It will always be possible to dynamically convert your values into units other than those defined as targets. Configuring target units is a way to customize the global display of data on your account (see the paragraph related to selecting a unit profile).

Click Save to store your changes.

Once the configuration is saved, your metric will be updated.

If you hover over the value in the "Unit" column for your modified metric, a tooltip will appear to indicate the associated category and the target units configured on the metric.
