Updated this week

To ensure your variables are properly monitored for data quality issues, you need to configure one or more data quality checks. These settings control how and when alerts are triggered by Data Quality Monitors.

⚠️ Note: These settings will only take effect once the variable is added to an enabled Data Quality Monitor.

Follow the steps below to configure the data quality settings for a new or existing automatic variable.

1. Open Data Quality Settings

Navigate to the automatic variable you'd like to configure, then open its Edit tab.

2. Configure Available Checks

You can enable one or more of the following options:

✅ Monitor data range

Turn this on to generate alerts when values fall outside the expected range.

Min / Max: Enter the minimum and maximum acceptable values.

Example: If you set Min to -5 and Max to 5, any value outside this range will trigger an alert.

✅ Flag stationary values

Enable this if you want to detect when the variable is not changing as expected.

Max stationary duration: Set the maximum amount of time the variable is allowed to remain constant. Alerts are triggered when values stay unchanged beyond this threshold.

Example: If set to 00:10:00, an alert is raised if the value doesn’t change for more than 10 minutes.

✅ Monitor data dropout

Use this to detect missing data points.

Expected frequency: Set how often new data should arrive (e.g., every 1 minute, 5 minutes, etc.). If no new data is received for three consecutive intervals, an alert will be generated.

Example: If the expected frequency is set to 1 minute, the system expects a new reading every minute. If no data arrives for 3 minutes in a row, an alert will be triggered to indicate a dropout.

3. Save Your Changes

Once you've configured the desired settings, click Update to save them. You can also:

  • Clear: Reset all settings to defaults.

  • Cancel: Discard any unsaved changes.

  • Delete: Remove the data quality settings entirely.

What’s Next?

After configuring data quality settings, make sure to:

✅ Add this variable to a Data Quality Monitor
✅ Enable notifications if you’d like to be alerted to issues
